This pic shows the added aprons and the new ramp forming the outer oval. I will route two new lanes and add a "Y" with a cable operated AC2car style lane changer that will allow the road course and the oval to share the current outer lane. The lane changer will not be used as a real time lane changer. It will only serve to convert the yellow lane from road to oval thus simplifying its operation.. The result will be a three lane road course and a three lane tri oval in one package that each share the yellow lane. The track dimensions are 14ft X7 ft. It is mounted to a table with caster wheels so I can move it around the garage or roll it up on my flatbed trailer to transport the entire track to anywhere I want to race it. I use a solar charged lead acid battery for power.
The track will get a layer 1/4 inch MDF glued to the entire surface as a "skim coat" to provide a smooth, uniform surface. I will rerout the track with adjustments to the exisiting lanes to smooth out the lanes in some areas, configure the original outer lane to work between both coursed and to add two additional lanes to the outer oval. Following routing, I will replace the outer rails with 1/4 inch Masonite as it had before.
