Hello...
Now that the teraforming has begun in ernest, I wanted to share a few pictures of the progress. The finished section is made of extruded foam My hot wire
skills are still , well let's say developing and the centerpeice was looking pretty choppy, so I decided to add a top coat of sculptamold. I threw in a few
rock castings to break it up a little.
This next couple of pictures show the next section in place. All landscape is modular and removable so that I can work on it away from the track.
The way I am coloring these rocks is to use the Woodland Senics pigments, diluted in spray bottles.
The section shown here is another "repair job." My butchery of the foam left much to be desired so I
used plaster cloth and a skim coat of sculptamold to get the contours right.
I decided I wanted a rock edge around the road. I am counting on the natural irregulaties of the sculptamold and cloth to suffice as rocks. My experience is
that some pigment is all that will be needed. I simply spray in random patterns (or not, if looking forof stratification....). Initially I gently spray a
stream, but eventually use a mist to color the "overall" tone. I am using yellow ochre and Burnt umber splotches with raw umber and burn umber
tones.
The black will be a dilute spray used to accentuate the crevices once everthing is dry.
Much of this will be covered w/ ground foam.
More to come ...
