Superglue Trick ? |
Lead | |
|
How is it done properly without gluing the bearing to the axle. I have purchased both the new Monogram Nascars. You know the rest of the story. Is it worth
giving it a try? I have never tried it and am afraid of ruining the axles permanently.

Hey Norb...
I don't use SG... Try oiling the axle to cover... Flow hot glue over the axle... Spin the axle by hand for a few seconds. It sound crude...but it works:) "They Didn't Say You Couldn't" - Smokey Yunick

The real ke is to make sure the bushings are well oiled.
I do not think that you will ruin your axles permanently... If it process went sidways, the glue can always be cleaned off with an x-acto knife or some "Uncure." I do not know what kind of bushings are on the car,, but then again... Uncure will woke on them too. Just do not use force to seperate the components and all will be well...

What i like to do is use shoe goo or goop glue it's good because you can remove it if needed by pulling it of with a needle nose plyers or small screw
driver... First degrease the chassis and bushing where it snaps into the chassis....put a little bit around the bushing and pop it in...and go over the top
of the bushing and chassis where it snaps in with a small bead and let it dry.

are you talking about gluing the bushing to the chassis???
or filling in the play around the axle with super glue??? I do both to fill the play around the axles just oil first and keep rolling the axel when the glue is setting up

Shoe Goo | ||
|
I have found a great alternitive to super glue and hot glue... It's called Shoe Goo. I picked some up at Wally
world, (found it in the shoe polish area) and it works GREAT! It holds very, very well, and it peals off without a trace if and when you need to remove it. I
use it to glue in my axles, motors, lead weight and everything else. I found it works better for everything I used to either hot glue or super glue.

It´s a good idea to do both - that is to first glue the bearing to its seat, with something that can still be removed (shoe goo sounds like a good alternative, but hot glue, or small amounts of cyano works too), then do the cyano-inside-the-bearings treatment as step 2. Otherwise there is a definite risk that as the cyano sets, the axle starts to pull the bearing along with it, and you end up with a bearing that is glued
onto the axle and rotates in its seat.
Adding too much oil inside the bearings prevents the cyano glue from entering and forming the new bearing. Wipe off the excess oil before doing the cyano
treatment.
