Standard track layout so we can compare eachothers times from home? |

I was thinking someone or we should all agree on a standard track layout that we could all use for comparing laptimes with eachother. I thought it would be
cool to be able to compare times with eachother online. we could have different class cars, stock and modified chasis and engine classes.....just a
thought

A good thought, but would require a second layout for many folks and space might be an issue.
Perhaps an oval of a reasonably small size? Another issue is that even if we build the same layout it might be different with various track brands due to curve radii and length of straights, etc. I like the idea, though. dennis |

Thats an awsome idea! We could perhaps have online time attacks were some snaped a picture of their best lap time on their lap counter.
Good thinking

This is a really cool idea but I think for it to work it would need to be a small layout. A layout stuck to a 4x8 sheet of plywood would be easy enough to
lean against a wall for storage when not in use.

Titan this is a great idea. My dad has been curious about why no one has done this yet, he's mentioned it for years. It would be nice if club or
commercial raceways could come up with a 'standard' layout maybe 4'x16', choose a brand of track and go with it.
Wasn't Scalextric supposed to be backing something along these lines a few years ago?

What scale? | ||
|
The 1/24 scale racers have the "Blue King."
The HO scale racers have the Buck/Brystal "Scorpion." Are you talking about a standard track layout for 1/32 scale? |

THat's actually a pretty cool idea. I for one LOVE the Time Attack format of racing. I have a 4.5'x8' 1/43 track setup in my garage, and since
I've been getting into 1/32, my stepdad and I have been thinking of some way to make another sheet(maybe routed) that would sit on top of the 1/43, but
lift up and out of the way to run the 1/43. The only other problems I see are power, you'd have to agree on a standard Volts/Amps rating to keep it equal,
and controllers. Although, you could consider the ohm rating of the controller like a part of the car. Or as part of the"driver variable". Thanks for
posting.

I've been thinking about this again, and an even easier idea would be a skidpad of the same diameter with the same amount of power and a laptimer. It would
be small, just a circle of R1s or R2s, something between 9-12 volts, 2-3 amps, you may not even have to wire for a controller, just hard-wired. That would evem
make it easier to decide on a particular brand of track as well. Cause buying 6 or 8 curves wouldn't cost very much. Then we could all post times around
said skidpad for comparison. That's how they do it in real life anyways...

You would also need the same controller and ohms also.
