Posts: 1684 (02/23/08 09:13 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None So everybody already knows this but the Carrera NASCARs of the current cars are fantastic! When they first came out I didn't get any - I just didn't want to buy another batch of cars. Oooops! I did finally try one of Dave's and it was so much fun that I had to part with some cash to get one. Then this week I talked some of the other guys into getting them, they weren't too excied about it because everyone thinks the COT looks goofy. Well we raced them together for the first time last night and once they were on the track we never switched to another type of car! All of these cars are now broken-in with after at least three hours of intense use! My friend has a four lane Carrera figure eight track and four of these cars were a blast! Probably some of the most fun slot cars I've ever raced. They aren't the fastest, almost any other brand of NASCAR is probably faster but these cars were side by side by side by side - great racing fun! Now everyone wants to buy all four cars currently available and is asking for more paint schemes. These cars are the 2008 Slot Car of the Year! AND I can still buy them at retail prices!

That being said, the top dawg will again be Scalextric when they release their versions (way) later this year. Don't forget to increase the guide rotation as it takes just a quick trim to do so and loosen the motor pod screw a turn or two. Da Vols - Bruce & Harriet & Kali

Posts: 154 (02/23/08 09:00 PM) Home Racing Forum Veteran Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Well, I've just ordered the four of them, have no idea how they run, but having collected all the classic Nascars to date and knowing the absolute joy they have provided us with, I am more than willing to take the punt on the COT cars. What I like about Carrera gear is the feeling of "substance" you get when you pick one up, these suckers are heavy!!!! They are built sturdy, they will "lap" up tonnes of hard racing and abuse, they are built to last..... The guide doesn't concern me in the least, its about a 3 minute job with a Dremel and a sanding drum to create a new blade profile to suit my track system (Scalextric Sport). I had probs with the Carrera COT on my Scaly track too...I ended-up beveling the front and back of the guide to make it work...what kind of quick-fix did you do? John W.

I trim front and back then re-profile the blade, paying particular attention to its "depth" by sitting the car on a spare piece of Scaley Sport track and eyeballing it to see there is a mill or two's gap so it doesn't hook up on un-even track joins. That's whats so good about the Carrera "keel", you've got a lot of material to work with, so you can make a nice blade.... .....unlike the actual Scaley Sport guide system, where you are scratching to get enough blade in the slot (I re-sit the braids on the new Scaley guide system, which in effect removes one thickness of braid, in my opinion it helps Scaley cars that little more).... Posts: 4475 (02/23/08 11:54 PM) HRW Moderator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I re-sit the braids on the new Scaley guide system, which in effect removes one thickness of braid, in my opinion it helps Scaley cars that little more Rupert - I do the same eliminating that "under" braid area giving that guide just that much more depth in the slot. It must be a Sport track problem as to the Carrera guide as my Artin layout uses only R1 & R2 turns and that massive keel is not a problem. And if you like the vintage NASCAR Carrera's, well, these modern day ones are way, way better. Da Vols - Bruce & Harriet & Kali

Yet, they were designed to be trimmed to suit certain tracks. Good job guys...showing a little time trimming is all it takes. On the CCOT...if ya think you have a fast one, dare ya to drive down and race me:)
