What is an easy and effective way to clean my track? |

Hey I have had my track up for about a week and I am noticing that it need to be cleaned. What's the best way to dust it or to try to clean the track off.
I have Artin track and race all different kinds of cars. I set up the layout that oldstromguy has as his avatar and I love it. Usually I like 4 lanes but
that layout is tons o fun. Thanks

Depends on how clean you want it to be. I have used just a duster, a microfiber cloth, 91% alcohol (on a cleaning rag NOT directly on track), and WD40 (again
on a rag NOT on the track). I like the WD40 the best BUT you can not leave a puddle or it will eat your track! I like it best because it also cleans the
rails the best too.

Our club only has one plastic track and it is also cleaned with WD-40 sprayed on a rag. The track seems to stay clean for several days after it has been
treated this way. I know that there is oil in WD-40 so it would seem strange to put it on your track. I believe that the oil picks up the dust and the solvent
in the formulation removes the oil.

I've painted my track so I leave the WD40 off of it. I use a very large tape roller meant to get lint off furniture etc...
It's not fool proof and I sometimes do it 2 or 3 times a night before racing but it keeps paint desolving chemicals off of my track. |

Hey guys thanks for the advise. I have heard that wd-40 isn't really the best, but it sounds like it works real well for you guys. What type of track are
you cleaning? Scaley, artin, carrerra?

I use a lint roller before each race(atleast twice a week) to clean the track, and some Alcohol on a towel to clean the rails. This worked great on Scaley
Track.

Vacuum cleaner, first. Then isopropyl alcohol (91% or a little higher) on a microfiber cleaning cloth, for the plastic. Periodically clean the rails with Caig
Deoxit or ProGold. If you need more cleaning of the rails, use Flitz metal polish (non-abrasive). Those chemicals will remove oxidation, prevent further
oxidation, and promote current flow, without abrading the rails.
Another trick is to keep the plastic from acquiring a static charge, which will reduce dust attraction. I've used an antistatic piezoelectric gun from my audio/LP toys.

I have a 4x16 routed track. Last summer I had corrosion on the tape. I almost had a fit.
I tried everything to clean the tape. I finally found that Tarn-X did the job. I have not had a problem since I stopped using the Swiffer for picking up the dust. I can't blame the Swiffer but I have not had a problem since. Frank

For quick clean ups before running I use a paint tack rag. Picks up all the dust and is quick and easy.
