I've been lucky I guess, and never had to do one before. Got a hold on a used SCX Dome Judd on here... made 2 laps and the engine stopped and went up in a wisp of smoke... So, the group I run with only runs box-stock class... but those $5.00 motors from SCW look pretty inviting and maybe I could run this in the "race-class" So, can I just pull the pinion off the SCX motor, put it on the SCW1 motor and just go? Matthew Shelf queens...I've heard of those, but I bought it to race it, not look at it.

You may want to play around with gearing, or you may be ok just the way it is. They are good little motors (you are talking about the green end bell motor, correct?) The only other consideration is if the group you race with considers that "Box Stock" On the other hand, if you bought it used, are we sure the motor which just went south (profuse apologies to my friends from the South) was stock to begin with? However the pinion will fit the mean greenie. But you will need a SLOT.IT SCX adapter. This 1 is a resin copy I made for myself. Derby City Speedway

I'm going to drop an NC5 motor in it and race with the group! Everything else is fine, I'm not allowed to put the SCW motor in it has to be a "known" motor. NC5 or an red NC2 works depending on what class we race. Matthew Shelf queens...I've heard of those, but I bought it to race it, not look at it.

Hower they have to be hot glued in. Also used the blue pinion gears from scalextric,this makes them fast. Another trick I did to this Judd is, being the motor was so thin I added magnets to the side so it holds the track better. mike

Posts: 57 (03/18/08 08:48 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	does anyone repair motors? or are they not worth repairing? i bought a new ninco 7up rally car awhile back. first time i hit the controller it smoked. brand new motor. well, i removed the chassis and the motor wire has shorted out on the magnet. fried the new motor. problem is i can't remember where i bought it? i had it awhile b4 i ever took it out of the cube. shame to,one of the red ninco motors. jd

Try running the motor direct (without all the garbage). I can't think of any reason that shorting a motor's power out should harm the motor. The current would actually bypass the motor in a short condition as you described. Or, it's possible, I suppose that the motor was toast anyway and the fact that it looked like the motor wire touched the magnet was coincidental. Greg
