Years ago (about 10) it used to be very rare to hear that someone had a 4 lane home layout. I am sure there were plenty of them, yet back then posting on OWH and such made it seem that 4 lane racing was a luxury.
Of course Carrera track was so expensive you needed a small loan just for a exapnsion set, NINCO was just coming on and Scalextric was the most common. Artin was there of course, but was frowned upon as it only came from Pennys and other chains.
Now, look around. A good many home racers here have 4 lanes. Not all, but a lot more than it used to be.
Of course the hobby has grown so much in the past 10 years that things were bound to change. And not everyone has room to do 4 lanes or even a permanent table for a 2 lane.
Still, if you own a 2 lane layout would you change to 4 if more racers were around?
What say you? Does 4 lane racing seem to be the norm nowadays?
