Qualifying for the 300 lap race was accomplished today. Based on the points standings and the results of this qualifying, I predict a big shake up will happen when this one's over. Here we go...

I ran all the cars in lane 2 for 50 laps. I did this to allow myself to adjust my controller to where I felt I could drive each car to it's best. Only the best lap counts in the qualifying. The order for the qualifying was based on the current points standings as they are now, meaning #1 went 1st, #2 went 2nd, etc...

1-#5-Dr Vanski-------2.997 Nice car!! Smooth acceleration and braking, and smooth through the corners. Gonna be tough to beat this one...

2-#10-Ray Metz-----3.022-Another nice running smooth car with good acceleration and braking. Quick through the corners, and very forgiving if driven in too deep..

3-Pete95N----------3.061-Almost too good acceleration and too strong of brakes (good thing I can dial it out). A little on edge through the corners, but otherwise very quick around them...

4-#9-DaisySlots-----3.085-Again, smooth acceleration and braking. Just not quite as fast through the corners as the ones above...

5-#8-DaVols---------3.095-Really strong acceleration with decent brakes. Hard to drive this one smooth lap after lap. Fast, but have to hit the brakes way before I normally do. Never gets to top speed. "If" I get it right, it goes around the corners nicely...

6-#14-WPSoko------3.118-Acceleration and braking is good, though not as smooth as those above. just a touch loose in the corners. That "rocking" body gonna take some getting used to when racing...

7-#49-Nick49-------3.141-Acceleration and braking good. Doesn't stick in the corners like the others above.

8-#5-GerhardH-----3.168-Good acceleration with kinda weak brakes. A slight chatter in the corners. Have to be careful how hard I push this one, cuz it'll roll up on it's side if pushed to hard (top heavy?)...

9-#48-BeeJay------3.183-Good acceleration and brakes. Loose in the corners...

10-#8-Mr56P--------3.191-Unreal acceleration with decent braking. Like DaVols #8, just hard to get it slowed down for the corners and get around smoothly. Loose through the corners.

11-#D10-RLivingston--3.225-Drives just like MR56P's (are they twins?), but just a tad looser in the corners.

12-#94-DaVols--------3.231-Like the other car, strong acceleration with ok brakes. Looser in the corners keeps it from being as fast.

13-#88-Arroldn--------3.264-Decent acceleration and braking. Lacking some speed on straight though. But because it's so smooth in the corners, I expect this one will move up once the racing starts. Watch for this one...

14-FGF60--------------3.304-Has good acceleration and braking. But also has a bad chatter in the corners if pushed too hard. It's bad enough that it will hop out of the slot. Just can't push it...

15-#43-Aaroldn--------3.362-Acceleration ok with strong brakes. Like the 88 car, lacking speed. This one's a little loose in the corners...

16-#8-StingRay--------3.372-Good acceleration and braking. Has a bad chatter going on in the corners though, slowing it laptimes a lot...

17-#4-McLiams---------3.379-Good acceleration and braking. Loose in the corners though..

18-#99-B52RN----------3.385-Good acceleration with sort of weak braking. While loose in the corners, this one's another one to keep an eye on. I think this one will move up because it's seems almost impossible to deslot.

19-#1-Elvinator---------3.386-Car is on the slow side down the straights, then it chatters around the corners. Bad enough to hop out on occasion.

20-RPerry240Z----------3.420-Though acceleration and braking is good, this one just doesn't want to turn left. It'll chatter and hop going around, sometimes right out of the slot. Another one I just can't push...

21-#15-Austin----------3.568-Motor wires were shorting out when I drove this one. Pulled the wires off the motor can and that seemed to fix it. Good acceleration with weak braking. very little traction though, and very loose in the corners...

22-#48-SMcCraney------3.728-My guess is this one's still got the stock Artin motor. Speed is way down compared to all the others. On the plus side, it won't be falling off much, so it might move up through the standings...

23-#1-SMcCraney-------3.784-Same as his #48, just a tick slower...

24-#99-WetCoast-------3.883-This one has a problem (or tuning that's not working), IMHO. It has very thick braids on the guide, and on this track, it appears that it's "dragging" and holding the car back. By that I mean it has so much weight on the guide that the rear wheels have a hard time "pushing" the car. It's like driving on ice, spinning everywhere. Worse in the corners. Run it as is?


The power was set at 10 volts, and will remain at that for this race. The race will be in 4 segments. Each car will run the 4 lanes for 75 laps each (making 300 total). I will run all the cars in lane 1 before going to lane 3. Thus, you'll have a "updated" result after each segment to see how your car is doing. The lane rotation is 1-3-4-2. Lane one is the toughest, and lane 4 the easiest (not necessarily the fastest though).

Obviously McLiams is gonna be happy where his car finished after the poor qualifying his car had. The car just ran much smoother and stuck better for some reason.
And Davols and Mr56P have to be scratching their heads. These cars, while fast, are just hard to run smooth lap after lap. The high torque of their motors keep lifting the front out of the slot coming out of turn 1 (tri-oval). Other times the rear tires hook just right coming out of turn 1, and send the car into turn 2 so fast I can't get it slowed down in time. But keep your chins up boys, lane 1 is the hardest, and the rest get easier. Lane 4 just might go your way...

I think it's gonna be a good race between Van and Ray here. These cars are really well balanced on this track. If I hadn't driven Ray's car too hard into turn 1 twice, I think he'd be right with Van. WPSoko and McLiams might be the darkhorses here...
