Hello All,
Austin Lesterhuis here. The following is Race info, and rules
for the Annual Livonianapolis 500 Indy Car Race, as well as the new Nascar
featherlite modified race. Special thanks to Ron Fields Sr. for giving us the
idea to add this modified class to the days lineup and for letting us use his
rules.
Race Date:
Sunday May,24th. Track will be open from 9:00 am - 10:00 pm Friday
the 22nd for practice. We suggest that the locals get most of their practicing
done on Friday to allow track time for those traveling in on Saturday and
Sunday. The track will also be open at 9:00 am - 10:00 pm Saturday for practice.
The track will be open at 7:00 am Sunday with qualifying starting at 11:00 am.
Food will be provided On
race day.
Race Venue:
Livonianapolis Super Speedway, located in the hills of Livonia, NY.
The exact address: 5989 Densmore rd. Livonia, NY 14487. The Track is
a 44 ft. Routed, braided Ed Bianchi Oval with 15 Degree banking in
the turns. Lodging is available at the new Rodeway Inn which is five minutes
from the track in Lakeville NY, and more options for places to stay within
Twenty minutes of the track in
Henrietta, NY. For the Hardy souls, primitive camping is available at

Indy Race Rules:
Body Rules:
1.)The Body must be a 60's era Indy car body, with two mounting
posts. Ex, Aurora, Tyco S, American Line, Marx.
2.)Resin cast Indy car bodies will be allowed as long as they have
the look of a sixties Indy car.
Chassis Rules:
1.) Chassis must be completely stock copper, no exceptions. Aurora
thunderjet chassis.
2.) Stock style Pickup shoes must be used, travel limiting allowed, contact
patch must remain stock. no other modifications. Aftermarket shoes are legal as
long as the contact patch is no longer than an original aurora shoe. Ex.
American Line shoes
3.) Armatures, Stock, None below 16 ohms.
4.) Magnets stock with no shims. Stock color combinations,
Green/orange, white/green, plain/plain with white stripe.
5.) Gearing stock as came in a stock tjet copper chassis.
6.) Axle's must be Aurora splined, No drill blanks. Front axle spacers may be
plastic, metal or brass. No lead.
7.) Wheels must be plastic 4 dot indy car rims. Aftermarket Indy rims are
acceptable as long as they are the same diameter and width as the originals.
8.) Tires may be silicone, and must be originally manufactured to fit
the 4 dot wheels. Tires may be glued on. Tires may be lightly sanded.
9.) BRING A STOCK CHASSIS NO EXCEPTIONS.
Race Format:
1.) Four 8 minute heats, winner will be the one with the most total
laps, track sections will be recorded at the end of each heat.
2.) Starting position will be decided by qualifying time. Qualifying
will be the best lap time out of three laps.
3.) Race will be run in a Round Robin Format.
Modified Race rules:
General Car Information
1.)The combined weight of the chassis and body must weigh
between 19 and 21 grams.
2.)Maximum length may not exceed 3 inches.
3.)Maximum width may not exceed 1 3/8 inches. (MAX TRAX) (1
5/16 on piece track).
4.)Car should be centered so that it will fit through tech block
without touching the side of block.
Chassis
1.)Legal chassis' include the following: original Aurora brand
Thunderjet/Tuff-Ones or the JLs.
2.)The chassis shall remain unaltered except in the instances
noted below.
3.)The vertical gear plate rails located on top of the plate may be
trimmed for body clearance purposes.
Bodies
1.)Any American late model, coupe, coach, or flatback body may
be used. No trucks, foreign, or sports car bodies may be used.
2.)Bodies may be injection molded or resin cast.
-Posts may be added to an acceptable body provided that
they utilize the existing stock mounting location for posts.
-Bodies may be lowered and lightened.
-There are no lowering restrictions except that the roof and drivers
compartment must be intact.
·Front Fenders may be removed.
·Rear Fenders may be trimmed and hollowed out.
·Glass may be removed.
·Trim pieces may be added to achieve a look of authenticity (i.
e. Side exhaust pipes, wire mesh or screen for windows, spoilers,
etc.)

Magnets
1.)Magnets shall be any readily available ceramic. These include
the following most commonly used, but are not limited to, JL (blue &
white), Super 2 (blue & yellow), or AFX Non- Magnatraction (blue &
red).
2.)Magnets may be shimmed by the use of non-ferrous materials
only.
3.)Magnets may be shaved to enable proper fitment in chassis.
4.)No other magnet modifications shall be allowed.
Gears
1.)There are no restrictions on Gears.
Armatures
1. Armatures may include AFX, Tuff-Ones, JL, Mean Greens
2. Armature commutator plates may be cleaned and/or polished.
3. Armatures may measure an average of no less than 5 ohms
from pole to pole.
4. Armatures may be balanced by means of removing material from
stacks. Epoxy may not be used.
Electrical
1. Any readily available shoe shall be legal. The step or contact
patch shall remain unaltered.
2. Any method may be used to limit pick-up shoe travel.
3. Pick-up shoe springs shall be an original Aurora part or an
identical replacement (i.e. BSRT).
4. Pick-up shoe springs may be trimmed, stretched, or used as
shunts.
5. Any copper/carbon composite brush shall be legal.
6. Shunts may be used to improve electrical conductivity.
Wheels, Axles, & Tires
1. Any readily available hub/wheel may be used. Wheels may be
lightened.
2. Only readily available slip-on tires may be used (no sponge
silicones).
3. Any readily available axle (rear) and weighted fronts may be
used.
4. Any tire size with a maximum of .400.
5. Glue/adhesive materials may be used to secure tires to wheels.
6. No specially fabricated, or freak parts (i.e Spring loaded axles)
may be used.
Race format
1. Four, four minute timed heats, with track sections recorded at the end of the
last heat. Indy Finishing positions will be reversed for the starting order of
this race. For example if you get last in the Indy race you will start first in
the modified race.
