Running 1:32 on Carrera Go Track |
Lead | |
|
Whenever I try to run either of my 1:32 Scalectrix cars on my Carrera Go track, the cars power off after one or two laps. Is there a circuit breaker or some
other safety mechanism in the Carrera Go power adaptor or in the controller? My plan is to hardwire in an Evolution adaptor and Evolution controllers into my
Carrera Go track. Hopefully this will solve the problem. Any comments would be appreciated. Marc

Hi Marc,
welcome to the forum! Maybe there is a thermal fuse in the power supply, but to be honest, i don“t know. What power supply are you using? Peter |

I'm using the standard issue Carrera Go transformer. I bought a used Evoultion transformer and my buddy is giving me his Evolution controllers. Hopefully
that will do the trick.

Hi Surfwagon, welcome to the forum. There is a thermal overload in your transformer. Your 32nd car pulls more current than stock 43rd and it shuts down. I dont
know if different controllers will help or you may need to run your 32nd transformer. One of my entries in this years SCKIII kept shutting down my Carrera
transfomer with stock controller but ran middle of the pack at the first race. Keep us posted on how things go. dave

Welcome Marc! I can't add more than Dave, except agreement. Since I got Parmas and a 0-30V 5Amp power supply, I can at least test my 1/32ds.

The Evolution power transformer is in the mail. I'll try it and report back. It would be great to run some 32's on my track.

Alright, I figured out how to run my 1:32's on my Carrera Go track at full speed and without cutting out after a few laps. The Carrera Evolution power
adaptor DID NOT do the trick. Instead I had to bypass the resistors that are built into the track. My Revell 1:32 and Scalextric 1:32 run perfectly. The
Carrera Go cars run faster but are still very controllable. The SCX Compact cars however are out of control. As soon as you touch the controller they fly off
the track. I'm sure this modification will affect the longevity of the 1:43 cars but I don't care. I'm so happy that I can now run 1:32's. Marc

So the 1:32's are running perfectly on the Carrera Go track. I've also converted Carrera Evolution controllers to use on the Go!!! track. I used black
poster board to allow drifting around without the cars falling off the track. I've also expanded the track to roughly 4x9.5 feet. I really need to quit
buying cars. This is getting ridiculous...

great to hear that the cars are running good now!
how about a picture of your track? |

I managed to squeeze 50 feet of track onto a 4x9 board.
The black poster board allows the cars to drift around the track without falling off.

Wow, nice lookin' layout there Surf!! I really like how you imbedded the track down into the poster board!! Now, some scenery and
buildings!! Also with all those curves, an upgrade to a nice Variable Power supply and some better tires than what comes on those cars and they will be
smokin' around there!! Keep us posted on progress!!

Yep, I've got hinges on one side and the other side is suspended from the ceiling with pulleys.
