congratulations on building your track.

Before deciding on tires, first make sure you know what finish you are going to put on your track.

Most folks are using latex and they all love their tracks. I have seen some posts here and there using enamel, epoxy, speckle finish spray paint etc.

My track is not complete, but I chose to go with "plasti dip". yes, the stuff they sell to coat tires with. I bought a gallon of white and a gallon of black and mixed it in a roller tray very random. I have not raced on it, but I love how it turned out.

Myron from Oklahoma is the one to be credited with coming up with that. He felt his first track coated in latex seemed to get the tires dirty quickly. So, when he built his second track he did the plastidip. He has had it running for years running 1/32nd RTR cars and he loves it.

There is a guy out there selling a kit to allow you to mold your own tires using the original tire to make the mold. I think the website is something like www.paulgage.com or something like that. it's a very cool process and I hear there tires are about the grippiest that you can get. And, they probably cost less that 50 cents a piece.

For my track, the only foam near it better be in a beer bottle and it better not be sitting on my track. Foam tires mean compound and compound is a mess. The tires are not cheap and they do not last. I just dont see a place for them in any form of scale racing.
