The design is by no means final, and, any and all input is more than welcome. It is for FF030 and 050 motors.

this is just curiosity but why is the center frount axle holes slightly higher than the rest, other than that it looks to be a great desighn, also what material
(metal or plastic)?

The three front axle holes are all defferent hights so you can use different size front wheel/tire combinations.
Pan and front axle bracket will be Aluminum, rear bracket and guide tongue will be Brass.

A more general comment, the state of the slot car economy is a thumbs down (IMO) so perhaps don't sink your life savings into this project. That other guy
was trying to sell stainless steel chassis way back when and eventually quit. Keep it real man!
Nice concept. Could you instead have three "channels" for the front axles held in place by a single set screw (you would need only one set screw but make the front wheel axle travel capability the same in all three choices of fore-aft positioning). You know, use like an allen key screw to poke through to set travel as desired). Just my 2 cents. |

A more general comment, the state of the slot car economy is a thumbs downNot the part that I'm in, my business is getting better and better every month. Scratchbuilding seems to be booming right now. Having said that, I am still yet to make a penny doing what I'm doing, but, I'll just keep right on doing it, till I can't do it no more.
I'm hoping to price this at not too much more than a PCS chassis.

And, here it is with the motor in it. This Sketchup thing is kinda neat.

Hi Al,
I'm assuming it's wheelbase adjustable like your early chassis, right? At around the PCS chassis price, we'll be placing orders along with more wheel rims and inserts. We just love your stuff out here in the west. Dan in Winnipeg |

I think you should also make a hypoid bracket for the rear to drop the CG. Now Al aren't you glad you saw my post on the drawing program?

I think you should also make a hypoid bracket for the rear to drop the CG.Motor is already sitting on chassis floor, as, this chassis is designed to take 13" wheels as well as 15"s, so, can't hypoid it. For larger wheels, you just flip the motor bracket upside down. Yeah, thanks for reminding me. I had this program on my machine about a year now, but, just got too frustrated trying to drive it. Seems to be a bit easier this time round. Yes, wheelbase is adjustable.

The chassis should work! I can see you have put some thought into it.

Looks like another winner, Al
Only suggestion I'd have is to make the front axle bracket adjustable so the guide distance from the front axle can be changed for personal likes and bodies. Glad to hear sales increasing for you...Steve Smith/BOSS Bodies is echoing that too...am hoping the same for Vincent/True Scale Products as his clear bodies are great so he can add more to the limited selection in 1/32nd scale.

Very nice, "clean" design. I'd really like to see it live brass and aluminium colours. It should be esthetically pleasing as well as functional.
A couple of quick questions occur (unless you just answered it) but let me re-phrase it. Does the guide post pan slide in and out to alter the wheel base? And is everything held together with grub screws? Greg

Looking good Al! Damn, I really wish there were more 1/32 bodies/models kits to work with!

Yes, it will be fully adjustable for both Wheelbase and Guide lead.
2mm countersunk screws will do most of the holding/adjusting.
