Until I "resaw" 1/32 about a year and 1/2 ago when I looked at the Carrera and NINCO sets my LHS(RC store) had under the shelves I remembered the
cars looking like the old eldons. What I saw a year and 1/2 ago was nice and they still weren't as nice as how they look today!!!

Have a series of TV ads promoting slot car racing.I called today and the 5th rated out of 5 stations wants $3000.00 for 10 Late Late night spots. Radio here costs around $1000.00 for 10 mid day late night spots. Money!!! or lack of. The best way to promote the hobby is take a friend to the track. Hook'em one racer at a time. |

They ran a whole piece on Luf's (oldslotracer.com) Targa Florio during once speedchannel-ish show a couple of years back. Whatever happened to that silly
show with the freaky guy that was all about RC stuff...If ever a show that needed more broadbased coverage of related hobbies, that was the show and slots
would have fit right in...as would have trains. But that host was sure something else. Nice enough I bet though...just funny looking. My wife laughed everytime
that show was on...

My experience this past year tells me that the LHS have to promote the hobby. Nick Nesbitt (MoKid) and I tried for over four and a half years to get family
and friend interested in slots. It wasn't until after I opened the store here last July that we have been able to connect with other slotters. In the past
year our twosome has grown to over a dozen. I started with an Artin American Thunder set on a table in the front window of the store and it stayed busy all
summer long. Slot cars interest here in Poplar Bluff has taken off. Besides those who participate in the local group gatherings I have had doctors, lawyers,
business owners and many others buy sets of all brands for them and their families to enjoy. Many of the local guys who are part of the active group were HO
guys who got hooked on the 1/32 and 1/24 after visiting the store... and I think it maybe isn't the large scale they have taken to so much as it is the
comradery of fellow slotters. But it has taken making slot cars an emphasis in my shop to make it happen and now slot cars and accessories is my major
category. People have to be able to see the cars and take hold of a controller and they start talking 'We got to have one of these! " Not all of them
do but a large enuf percentage here have that we are having a blast!
