Decal dividing 2 paint colors |
Lead | |
|
Not sure I'll describe this well - I'm going to tackle one of the #88 schemes. I've done a few two-color paint jobs, but none with a decal stripe
between the two colors. How do you guys figure out exactly where to mask so the paint will be in exactly the right spot for the decal stripe? I'm guessing
you don't just eye-ball it which has been my method so far.
Thanks Mark |

Mark, when I did my 88 cars, I made a BW copy of the decal sheet then cut out the stripe from the copy and placed it on the car to see how it fit, took
note where it fit. Then I layed down some masking tape onto a piece of glass, and cut a thin stripe the same thickness as the decal stripe.(I have the glass
from an 8x10 picture frame that I use as a cutting board). I then placed the masking stripe on the car and used the BW copy stripe to tested to see how it fit
and adjusted accordingly. Once I was happy with where I had the masking stripe, I masked the rest of the white arears and sprayed my blue.

Thanks Matt - that's very helpful. Sounds complicated, but your description is very clear. I'll give it a shot.
