Lead | |
|
I need to elevate some parts of my track and I was just wondering if somebody could post pictures of how they did theirs. I want to get some doorskin wood to
use but I am not sure how I want to brace it. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated

rokraider wrote: Sorry, don't check this regularly. Anyway, there are two ways that I've tried. First, you can use styrofoam and then top it with something like a
doorskin wood. I used hardboard. You can see a brief building log here: http://homeracingworld.yuku.com/topic/4232
In another track, I used wood supports and then used 1/4" plywood as a base. I also used wood supports on my routed track--obviously, the MDF serves as its own support.

sorry, don't have a photo hosting account working, so can't post pictures. Bill has a good plan. If for some reason you don't like it,.. A
different plan I might suggest is building a wood frame work underneath, even with just vertical pieces of 3/4" plywood spaced about 6-8" apart. I
can send jpeg photos of what I did for an 11" elevation change if you sent me a personal e-mail address by p.m. BTW are you putting plastic track on top
of this & what kind? The problem boils down to: The thinner of a piece of wood you want to use, the heavier duty the support structure must be.
