My cars don't seem to be going as fast as they used to. My track is painted. What is the best way to clean it without hurting the paint?

Hey Scoobe,
If you painted your track like was instructed earlier and you got no paint on the rails or joints, I'm kinda at a loss as to why it got slower? But I do have my opinion on how to clean and what to use: Weiman Stainless Steel cleaner from Wally World!! About $2-$4. Now they have spray or wipes and I have the wipes and I like them very much!! First, run your Swiffer Duster very carefully around the track to get the dust off and then take a wipe and just run it flat along the whole track. May have to use 2 depending on size of track and/or amount of dirt!! And it does not harm the paint!! And make sure you take another soft cloth and lightly buff the rails and track to get up any residue left, which does not harm anything either!! Its up to you on how often you may want to do this!! Again, this IMHO!! Good Luck!!

do you have power taps installed?
on my artin track, it got slower over the time as well, so installing power taps helped. i think the reason for getting slower is corrossion in the track joint. if you want, you can bend every track joint in a little to get better contact there. soldering the whole track is another option to get good contact, but normally you want to be able to disassemble your track again, which will not be possible when it´s soldered. I use Clorox wipes the same way Tom does. They come up black from the contact rails. I do this about once every two weeks or more often when raced a lot. Like
this last weekend.
