Posts: 1 (07/19/23 03:10 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None seems one of my 3 lanes does not ramp up and down in speed smoothly. It kind of goes in steps which makes it pretty hard to drive. When I hold the cars back tires up and squeeze the throttle you can really hear the motor change speeds abruptly. No matter how smooth (and slowly) I squeeze the throttle the car will eventually jump to a much higher speed. The other 2 lanes run fine. I have done all the easy things (changed cars, changed controllers, etc.) but the problem stays with this lane. Before I tear the wiring apart I am looking for suggestions as to where to go next. Any suggestions for a noob. I know there is alot of knowledge here. I am using a Pyramid power supply for all lanes. Each driving station has 3 pole screws (red, black, white) for alligator clips and a lane reversing switch. Thanks

Sounds like you have some kind of residue on the tape. Clean the tape real good with some alcohol. hot shoe "I must be behind on my cheatin' "

If electronic, you may have the track wired wrong for your controller. In another words, if your controller is negative polarity, and your track is wired positive, the car will only move when the trigger is pulled all the way back. Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	There must be some sort of bad connection from the controller to the powersupply/track in that lane. Otherwise, you are probably using an electronic controller of some sort. Do yourself a favor and get a cheapee 35 ohm Parma controller to see how everything goes. My Wood Track Pictorial

I have the same problem with different controllers and attachments. Problem seems worse with my Parma controller. Thanks for the info. I know I will have to redo the wiring somewhere - I just don't know where to begin.

Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	It is difficult to troubleshoot a track over the Internet, but it looks like you have a short in the wiring for that lane. First connect a volt meter across the red and white terminals with the track power on and no car on that lane. You should read full track voltage. If your track is wired the standard way (positive polarity) the white post will be positive. If you have full voltage the connection between the white post and the power supply is OK and so is the connection between the red post and the other side of the power supply. If you are getting some voltage there is a partial short somewhere in that part of the wiring, if there was a dead short there would be no voltage at all. If that part of the circuit is OK put a jumper across the black and white terminals, you should read full voltage across the rails for that lane, if not it is likely that the feed from the power supply to the left hand rail looking in the direction of travel is crossed up with something. You might want to take a close look at the reversing switch for that lane. There might be a whisker touching something there. You should have seperate fuses for each lane the fuses should be located between the white post and the power supply.

I suggest disconnecting the reversing switch and wiring it straight through. If every lane is wired the same with only one giving a problem, The only part of the circuit out of visibility is inside the reversing switch. It's possible that you could have a defective switch causing the problem. Mike A
