Nice cars! I wouldn't mind having one just to run, depending on the price. I may have to borrow some of El's plasma.

Since they are not built, maybe the price will be cheaper.

Heheheh, Tony.
You know what though? I liked the Ferrari kits because I could build the cars up to the specs I wanted and made all of them different to experiment and develop the best car. A lot easier to install the anglewinder or the gears from ground up than to tear down the car and re-install. I'm guessing much will be the same for the F40. build as is or get what you like or prefer and plug it in! Just thinking about that- You think the Alfa 33TT3 will be already assembled or a kit? I'm thinking assembled. But not hard to gank the magnet, install a 25k Yellow V12/3 or a 25k Shark or something a bit more exotic and dropping in a 32 tooth spur. Oh, and getting the lead into the nose... Bob |

Man, just when I didn't want to pay Fly prices I think I will have to make a exception for these. The F40 has always been my favorite Ferrari.

A slot car modeled on a car that ran in IMSA? I may just buy it for that reason.

They look beautiful.... still not cheap and you have to put them together but I've been buying 1/24 BRM's that retail for $149 and doing the exact same
thing. The trick will be finding out if these FLY's run as well as the completed BRMs.

They are really beautiful. That seems to be Fly's forte' ,,, The real trick will be to see if they run as well as they look. I already have the
Slot.it version on order. It would be fascinating to see a comparison review between the two.
I'll offer to "Loan" you the Slot.it (but I want it back) . If you're interested, pm me. And let me know if you'd rather see it in the box, in kit form, or you would rather have it assembled. --------------- Chaparral 2D, The Alfas will come RTR. There is a small problem with licencsng on the Ferraris. Apparently Hot Wheels owns it for models and finished cars in this country. So the Ferraris all come as kits, from other manufacturers.

Well I finally got time to sit down with my F-40 today. Checking the fit of all the pieces, first I shortened up the front axle to get the front tires under
the body. After that I ground down the huge heat weld boogers that kept the chassis from sitting flat.I could go on for awhile about this car but I should leave
that to the pros.Car looks great and in my opinion runs great. I think most guys are gonna love the NEW tires. She slides like a dream on my track, no barrel
rolling! WORTH IT!

I purchased one of each and got them on the track today. I am completely satisifed with both. Well done Fly!....I need 2 more to fill the grid. $70 is steep
when Slot. It, Scaley, SCX and a few others are $20 cheaper (give or take), but if you can live paying that I'd recommend them.
I like the new gears, new tires, new motor (?) that Fly used on these. Hopefully this is the way of the future.

Why this F40 Kit so expensive? Previous Fly Kits were around $35.00. That was a deal! And don't tell me the price of oil for the plastic. I personally
think the $35 to $48 is a resonable price point. You get a nice car from Scalextric for $48 or less. I sure hope all the manufactures don't start jaking
up the prices.

Quickcars wrote: ---------------------------- Quite a bit on another unnamed site. Apparently the new "hollow" wheels are virtually impossible to remove from the axle without breaking the
center out of the rim. The nylon gear sets look great to me, but I would have rather seen a solid spur, rather than the "hole - spoked" one. I have
heard (now remember this is all rumors ) that some of the spurs come pre-warped from the factory. At a suggested retail of close to $80.00, and knowing that I
will have to replace all the wheels, and spur gears at an additional cost of $10 bucks or so, it's just too expensive for this pore boy. The coach work is
really nice though. Yet I think I'll just wait for my Slot.it to come in, with good wheels and gears, for less moolah.

I think those guys on that other site must have issues, cause I had all my wheels off the axles at least four or five times with no problems at all ,go figure!

If you're worried about busting out the centers of the rims, you can ice down the axle before trying to remove it. The steel will contract and make it
much easier to remove.
You could just put the axle assembly in the freezer for a few minutes, but the plastic might get a little more brittle if it's cold.

My blue "Pilot" version is in the mail. I picked it up for $58 bucks off of epay. I will buy the Slot.it version in red when it's available.
So, Chuck please tell us something about your new Ferrari. I'm hoping that one of our expert reviewers gets his hands on this car soon.... QC |

Well, I put mine together last night in no time flat! Everything fit together well and it's a FANTASTIC looking car. Mine is the blue version and my only
issue is that the tires rub in front. I will shorten the axle to see if "tucking" the wheels in eliminates this.
I got mine for a little cheaper and all in all, it's one of the nicest offerings I've gotten in 2008. I can't wait for the Slot.it version and that frickin Alfa that I'm dyin' for!!!! C'mon Slot.it release that Alfa already !

"Why this F40 Kit so expensive?"
The Ferrari license is VERY expensive. This is just a guess but that might be the reason. I'm waiting for the Slot It car myself. |
