if you think the plaster cloth is easy you should try the foam board I'm doing a mix just because of how I laid the track out and I all ready bought a ton of the plaster cloth
a few things I piked up if you are doing plaster put black paint in the water this way the color will be a gray and not WHITE that will stand out
also with the plaster cloth I put it on dry on one place that I could not reach and then sprayed it with black wash and pushed it onto the wads of paper I let it set and did it again the hole rolling hill part under the grass was done like that and at the end I brushed on some plaster in a light mix of black wash (black wash is water and paint , never use the plaster with out adding color unless you wanted it white because the white pin holes are very hard to hide
