What amazes me is what we consider junk and how little people know about how things work. This is the second major thing I got because the person thought the power supply unimportant. I am glad at times for man's . . . .

I collect scrap and haul it away for people as a part-time summer job. It is feast or famine but gets me some fun money. Today, I got a flat panel monitor in
the junk. The guy threw away the power supply and couldn't get it to work. It is small but it now does the timing for my track. I had a walwart that was
perfect for it.

People throw away the damndest things, Dan!
I found a Toro lawnmower in the garbage last year that couldn't have been more than a month old. The only thing I had to do to get it to run was put gas in it! Now I just have to make that big "slot cars-in-the-trash" score!

Scrap metal recycling for cash has cleaned up some sections of the city. I don't see car hoods along the road anymore. I can get at least 5 CRT monitors
right now from people if I want them. Have three in my basement right now.

Brings back memories of the art school days. All my scupture supplies I got the same way. I sold a sculpture for $150 that I had $5 invested into.
The lawn mower...I'd guess moving and couldn't or didn't want to deal with it...but then who knows. Last year I got a Medusa lamp that knocked over and 2 of the 5 glass shades broke. I've always wanted one, but a really nice one was $300. I grabbed it...went to a mom and pop lamp store and they were able to tell me who made it and ordered the shades for me. Cost $40. The high end furniture store in the same strip mall sold the lamps...$325.00. I also got a Coleman grill that was $300. One man's trash is another man's treasure!!! I'm not to proud to dig!!! I've got my own Department Store |

I just got a pickup load of 2x4s and my son-in-law was able to finish a room in his house for free.

I recycled over $1100 in scrap in the last week, the price is $195 a US ton for basic scrap right now and expected to rise further, a couple years ago it was
only $80. I'm putting my scrap money towards a rust free, big block, 81 Cutlass, quite a rare find in Michigan with our salty roads.

I just moved over $600 in the past two weeks. I just fixed the ignition in my truck and bought slot cars. Here is the best thing, like I said before, -- the wife does not complaion because she gets a cut.

Didn't I hear that the weight of the copper in the penny was worth more than 1 cent?

Yes that's why there is very little copper in a penny.

The next load will buy a tank of gas -- maybe!
