I agree with ddyke about those dang heavy magnets. Problem is if the lap counter doesn't work, the pit fuel up requirement of the digipro system won't
work either. ( I don't like fueling every nine laps so I wouldn't miss it one bit.) Also dead strips and PC's counting laps can't account for 6
cars running. I suggest looking back in the digipro discussions which will lead you to posts by Demether, a guy from France. Those guys are way ahead of us on
tweaking digipro. They have a mod to allow lighter magnetic force to still trigger the reed switch which tells the lap counter to count laps. As to too much
performance with light or no mags, you might try installing a diode to the motor to cut the voltage. There are different diodes available at Radio Shack and
they are dirt cheap. Buy a hand full of different ohm ratings and experiment until you get it right. You can also run several light ones (low ohm rating) in
series and get the same result. I have an AC2Car oval track that uses diodes. The diodes makes even my red hot, FK Falcon motors docile enough to control on a
small track. Just my $0.02
