The idea that global warming is not associated with human activity ignores a lot of evidence. While there will always be counter-examples to any theory, the preponderance of evidence is showing that the burning of fossil fuels, and other human activity, is potentially disastrous. It's called convergent validity. Of course, scientific consensus is not the arbiter of truth, but it says something that so many scientists, from so many places, seem to agree that we have a problem, and it is man-made.
I am troubled by mandated but dangerous (and expensive) light bulbs, and many other pieces of legislation that s*ck. I am sure that we will be seeing more in the future. Professionally, I work with the disruptive effects of the No Child Left Behind law, which is putting a pistol to the head of our already struggling and ill-run public education system. Much educational law seems driven by corporate interests, and runs counter to the common good. I see this in classrooms every day. When our federal administration engages in a "war on science", it just provides more evidence that we are in big trouble in this country, as well as world wide. Although my expertise is not in environmental science, it does look to me that the doom-sayers are closer to the truth than the global warming deniers.

I gotta laugh at these guys.
(what fools we are killing the planet like
this.)
