Rural legend.... |

Ok, so imagine you live in St. Louis and you're moving to rural Missouri. You find a lovely farmhouse set on a decent plot of land. The place has been
empty for 15 years! While your exploring your new propery you find a large barn in the trees. The door is padlocked shut and the lock is rusted solid, so you
bust it open...
And this is what you find inside...

I remember those Saabs. They had a 3 cylinder, two stroke engine, front wheel drive, and were unbeatable in snow.
Nice slot car! A Volvo 544 would be a good companion for it. Any of those in the barn? |

Hi Robert! Yeah! My college roommate had a beige one. It was a blast. I even got to drive it in the snow a few times! I wish I could find a Volvo body like the
one you mentioned. I loved those cars when I was kid. Not aware of anyone who makes it.
Thanks, Dutch! I did it. As Robert pointed out that's what it is -- a 1964 vintage from what I can tell, but they made it for a while in the 70s, which I think was what my roommate had. Believe or not a high school buddy of mine had a Panhard -- a french car with an aircraft engine! I think that's why I like these weird little oddities so much. The Saab body is an OCAR kit that I bought from a retailer in England. BTW: I was checking out the link to the story about the barn in portugal that I was making fun of in my first post and there really was a Saab like this one in the barn! 50s

Talk about setting the EPA/Clean Air Act back by about 50,000 years with a 2-stroke car motor...OMG. Can you imagine the exhaust emissions profile???
Nice car btw. Need to see it on a track! Cheers, Mike |

Are those the Volvos that looked like little 39 Ford sedans? My brother had a metallic-blue one for his first set of wheels.

That's great!! Saw a few 2 strokers. Drove a V4. Weird little cars....but then even the current Saabs are strange
Anyone can restore a classic car, but it takes a real Hotrodder to cut one up and make it cool!
