Growing up in Germany, my favorite form of motor sports in the 1970's was F1. My favorite driver being Niki Lauda. However, having seen this car in
action, it quickly became my favorite F1 car of all-time. As a matter of fact, I have over 2 full carousels of 35mm slides (for those of you who remember
those!) of Jody Scheckter and Patrick Depailler running at Monaco.
I've been after the SCX and Scalextric versions of one for a while, even going as far as to pick up the Strombecker one to satisfy my craving. Well, I finally scored one MIB from Spain off of eBay. I opened it this morning like a kid at Christmas opening his Red Ryder!.
Out of the box, the car is VERY nice. A quick sanding of the tires netted me a PERFECT running mate to my Ferrari 312T2 and McLaren Ford M23, both of which were recently re-motored with an FF-motor - see Ferrari 312T2 and McLaren Ford M23 remotored!
I've included a few pics of the Strommy version, that with a new motor runs at the same speeds. So, even though it isn't as pretty as this one, I now have a good group of runners that are equally matched.
