Does anyone own or race on an SCX analog track that has 4 lanes or more? If yes, how do you like the track compared to the other brands?
I have seen or heard of Artin, Carrera, Ninco, Scalextric and Revell club tracks and wondered why SCX doesn't appear to be as popular for a club track.

I have owned and raced on it. It is decent track except some older sections still have a shallow guide depth forcing you trim down guides like Carrera, NINCO,
and other deeper guides. It is basically identical to older Scaley classic track before they re-tooled to "sport".

Most of the tracks here in the PNW are SCX/Scalextric 'Classic'. It is the prefered club track because of the superior raised rail design feature for
superior power delivery and excellent traction of the surface. I can take any make of car and it will perform at it's full potential without any mod other
than maybe a sixteenth off the blade depth. The cars still go to full lock without deslotting so the depth of the guide has no adverse effect on handling that
we've ever been able to detect.
The only issue we've ever had is the electrical connections between the pieces but with proper blueprinting and an occasional power tap the problem is easily solved. The SCX has an even more grainier surface than the 'Classic' so you could expect even better forward bite that normal. Slick surface tracks just do not have the bite needed when racing stock tires and no-mag cars. I wouldn"t change to any other brand if it were free and most of the people I race with would back that up. A track that has good traction is worth it's weight in gold IMHO.

Brian - Probable reason is that the other brands were more widely distributed in NA than SCX was.
Having had them all - track is track - the only "drawback" is that, like Classic and Ninco, the pliable plastic does have a tendency to warp over time if not permanently mounted.

I had an SCX track for about a month. The track was fine. The problem was the cars and the controllers. I had the PRO or whatever with the changeable resistor. ONe of those resistors burned out in about a week, follwed by one of hte cars, the Dome Judd, I think. It was a black and white checkered car. I owned a hobby shop at the time and called the distributor and they agreed to take it back. It was only 2 lane, though. The track did fine and a less fancy controller may have not given trouble.
