Carreratrack - Me - Slotracing
On this page several terms appeare: Carrera-track, scratch-building, slotcar. But the beginnings lay back in history, in a time when the Carrera-track
Universal 132 was brand new and hot.
I know, an intruduction is missing, but primary I didn't want to make a big deal, the page should only be a place where I can collect my pictures to show
them every now and then in some discussion boards, not even more..
But then my son showed us his page about different Porsche-modells in different scales, rebuildings and new varnishing. And this was the birth of this
homepage.
It developes to aproject, in which everyone of us helps in any way, and the dimension grew more and more. Mails and feedbacks from everywhere of the world show
me, that everywhere around of the world people play with this fantastic cars; they collect, rebuilt, varnish them and so on ..... Consistently questions appear
about the history of an special racer or race. Especially Le Mans 1970 caught and catches fans, even today! But what couse the phenomenon? Is it becouse of the
first complete win of the Porsche-team? Who knows?! But maybe because of this faszination, Fly turns out some cars of this famous race .....Yes, exactly! It is
special! The most famous racing-movie was shot on Le Mans 1970.Who doesn't know the scenes with Steve McQueen aud his gulf-blue Porsche 917K - even this
car is a myth today. Once sometime wrote me according to on scratch-built of Le Mans 1970: Where is the timemashine, and bring us to this race? This would be
the biggest dream come true! Live and able to shoot pictures from every side. Isn't it amazing how many new pictures appeare till today?! All the time
searching for new details or only some hinds how the car looke like. We want to collect and complete the starting field. But this is no easy business, there
started 50 cars! Yeah, this is going to be a challange! I be up to see what new cars will be produced, becouse some doesn't exist, not even from an other
race!
Great, I turned to a different topic J ! To the middle of the history but not to the beginnings J so we have to turn the time-mashine some more years
(decades!) back in history: we wrote the year 19.. (no I better not tell it J ), my buddies had Carrera-track UNI, oh it was such a fun. But it was in a time
we even not know digital , a time before MTV, computer and the world wide web. But we could play with four cars on two slots!! Thank's to the great
steam-catcher (Stromaufnehmer) we were able to do 180°-turns. With this awesome track we spent so many afthernoons. More and more tracks we added, the course
grew more and more. We built new cars, the pocket money couldn't be high enough!
I remain it in details, how we varnished our races, in some cases with aerosol cans, in some cases with brushes. So many days my friend painted his black CSL
with the original stripes - oh it looked so great! Today you go into a shop or do some steps in the web, to buy it ready-to-run.

Now, real-big-fans aren't aloud to read on... things happened as they must happend: I saled my Uni! This is inexcusable, never do something like that! You
can sale anything, but never sale a Uni!!!
So time goes on, my son grows older and older and again the remain: Carrera, Fun, Hobby... exactly! I went into a shop, saw the track, was happy and bought it.
And than? Disappaintment, I don't know. Maybe in the memory of the backward everything was better, or the cars are driven in a bad way: no brakes, no grip,
no fun! Where the hell is the Uni-feeling...? So I brought it back to the salesman.
But I didn't give up hope. There was a shop, who built up his track in his shop. So we tested the cars, espencially becouse the brakes and grip. And there
were awesome cars, but today you can only drive with on slot per track. And there it was: brack, grip, drifts!!!! We were enthusiatic, chrismas was rescued.
Certainly, we bought more tracks and we decided to play in the celler, much more space. But imagine playing standing, some landscape, some diecast to varnish,
be painting the background, showing our cars in a board or better: my own homepage, yes! In English please...
Now you can see the result on my page. There's only one answer missing:
WHY LE MANS 1970?
