magnets will give you better lap times.
for driving without magnets, you will need cars with a guide flag instead of the guide pins. And turn borders for all turns so you do a nice power slide out of the turn without deslotting. much work included to get a good running magnetless car! magnet rule out the most little mistakes of these little cars.
personally i enjoy both, but in the last time i prefer the non magnet cars a little over the magnet cars.
