Posts: 118 (04/10/08 10:15 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	As a former owner of quite a bit of Turnpike system I would like to offer some thoughts based on my past experiences. First it is a VERY expensive system to own. Really good cars usually run about $150 to $250 each depending on the rarity of that particular car. The track is difficult to set up and has an inherent connectivity problem caused by the copper clips that connect each rail (10 per section) Plan on leaving the track assembled. The biggest issue is the cost since this set has not been manufactured since 1962. Parts are hard to find and not cheap when you do. As far as the operation of the track , the cars are not very fast and lane changing is so-so. The only good source for Turnpike stuff is Ebay. There is /was a fellow in Ohio who had quite a bit of stuff but I don't believe his website is still active. One of my childhood buddies had on of these sets and it really made an impression on my nine year old mind. I was determined to own one someday.Forty plus years later I made that dream a reality. I'm not trying to discourage you but just wanted to share my past experiences. I later sold all my stuff to a collector in Pennsylvania. You'll find this system to be quite challenging at times,and by the way, buy yourself a multi-meter that will read positive and negative voltages. I wound up routing an oval track into the table built for this track and have enjoyed it much more. The track in the photo is from two sets as each set only contains 5 straights and one crossover Good luck if you decide to go this route and please feel free to contact me with any questions.
