Lotus/Eagle motor exchange??? |
Lead | |
|
I just recieved the Scaley Lotus/Eagle. Love the models .. don't like how they run. (basically way to much motor) I have run them with & without
mags, 14.8, 12, 10, & 8 volts. Obviously they run better as you lower the voltage but what I would like to accomplish is to get them running as close as
possible to the SCX BRM, Tyrell, etc. The SCX cars are a ball to drive at 14.8 .. nomag. Any replacement motor suggestions would be great. I think the motor
has to be a snap in as there is little room to work with. Thanks

Here you go, hot out of box #5437. both remotored with the FF-050SH (.70 MOTOR). And they are a joy to drive SWEEEETTTTT. I f you missed this set... shame on
you >D
Pay close attention to these 2 pictures, these parts are very delicate, they are not glued together but be sure to seperate with a xacto knife before you seperate the chassis from the body.
notice the axles stay with the chassis on the Eagle, and with the body on the Lotus.
the motor swap complete. I used SCH 8T pinions on both.

Just got my set today..beautiful..
They will get re-motored and de-magged before I run em, maybe get to it next week. Mark is jumping right on these babies! I'm off to get the race car fired tonight, prime the oil pump, lash the valves and give her life. Ah it is spring time, racing gas fumes will fill the air..

I am waiting for my BWA motors to do the same. Thanks for the pictures and suggestions!
I wonder how they'd be with a slightly stronger magnet and the downrated motor. The 156 and Cooper are manageable (sort of) with the gold Prof. Motor magnet and Indy Grips. But when they go, better have a new axle assembly on hand. An alternative to the hard-to-find discontinued SCH pinion would be one of the FF-style pinions from the Scaley Sport+ package. Or, better yet, a 2.0mm OD / 1.5 mm ID shim and a regular pinion. You can get the tubing from McMaster-Carr.

ever do get him to respond and he's got them, get a whole bunch of the pinions. I'd buy some from you 4 sure.

Dave, I haven`t had any contact with Tim after I purchased these pinions. here is the last email I had, and I think he was changing it.
slotcar_racer@hotmail.com he still had over 500 at this time. about 2 months ago.
Jason, these are both no mag. and neither have any weight added. At 9-1/2 volts they are a pleasure to drive. They are very fragile, so I wouldn`t want to much power/magnet just in the case they go off track. |
