After a couple months it was traded for a 1960 Dodge with a HUGE 318 V8 - what a monster compared to the Renault! Then had a 1962 Valiant, a 1963 Plymouth, then a 1965 Mustang. I wish I had kept everyone of them!

196? Renault Dauphine 4 door, black. The first ride out of the garage I was checking the quick steering at 60 mph by weaving the (then) white lines and flipped
it on its side. It spun around, flipped back onto the wheels and rolled backwards into the ditch with a dead engine. Once the excess fuel was cleared from the
engine it started, drove it up out of the ditch and on home. The only damage was scratches on the passenger side from the sanding effect of the pavement - and
of course the pee stain in the underwear.

'67 Triumph Spitfire with a smashed in rear end. My dad made me sell it when he went to buy me some new tires and found out the rear wheel was fused to the
axel and wouldn't let go -- that and some froze-up u-joints. 50s.

1st car was a 1967 Pontiac Firebird with a 400ci, 330hp (I believe) 4 speed, dark green with a white vinyl top and interior. Had it for 9 months then traded it
for what I really wanted, a 1970 1/2 Z-28. Had the LT-1 350ci and 360hp engine in it, 4 speed and chambered exhaust. Sounded SWEET! It was light green with
black stripes and had Crager mag wheels. Unfortunatly it wasn't a split bumper model so, a year later I traded it for a 1971 Z-28 RS which had the split
bumper but lost 30hp due to less compression. It was brown with black stripes. Still was a fast car but the 70 1/2 was a Screamer!!!! Boy would I like to have
either of the Z-28's now.

My first was a '85 Lebaron GTS Turbo Hatch Sedan, 2.2 Turbo motor, 3spd trans, and SH2 suspension. It didn't look like much but it did take quite a
few V8 and V6 powered "performance" cars by surprise, even had the manager of an exhaust shop nearly wetting him self when he said he took it for a
test drive
Of course it wasn't completely stock at that point, but
all it had done to it was slightly larger injectors, 8mm Mopar plug wires, drop in K&N filter, Mopar Race Computer, 3" exhaust from the downpipe back,
rust related weight reduction, and the legendary torque steer

'66 Buick Wildcat convertible. Red with white top and interior.
Man that car was loaded! Power everything, including fold-flat seats w/ memory! Boy that ride was a panty-magnet cruisin' the Jersey Shore in the late '70's.
425 HP 430 CID gas-guzzlin' BEAST.
Lotsa fun racin' down Highway 9 (the one and the same from the Bruce song "Born to Run" ) on the way to the beach house we all rented for the summer in Asbury Park. (lotsa speeding tickets too ).
You only let off the gas to keep the wheels from spinning...

Hey, all you guys ranting about the special features your First Car had. Well!! My '34 Ford had Power Steering--- The knob on the steering wheel -----
Automatic Turn Signals, ------ Roll down the window and stick your arm out! ---I didn't have to remember to cancel them. The defrosters were great,---- a
rag soaked with anti freeze cleaned the inside no matter how bad they were frosted! The under dash radio ( GPS ) would sometimes pick up signals in the next
county! Automatic self starter --- Park with the front wheel on the curb and jump the clutch when it rolled back. And Air conditioning -- Open the windshield
and have all the crap blow in your face!!!
Boy do I miss the GOOD OLD DAYS!!!!! Art Love that spell checker
