I do plan on someday building a 4 lane routed track but I can't afford it right now.

Thinking about starting a clubish thing |
Lead | |

I have been thinking about starting a sort of club in my area as the local track is insanely expensive to league race at. My only problem is that my track is
only two lanes and the layout is so small I cannot fit a four lane track on it. I am not looking to have 10 to 20 people just maybe 5 or 6 to come race and
have fun. Do you think a two lane track would be decent to run on or should I wait till I can have more space?

Ya gotta start somewhere - consider yourself lucky that you can find 5 or 6 folks that share your interest - and size doesn't matter as long as y'all
have fun.

Get together, start racing, and a lot of stuff will start to fall into place. Of course, the other option is to go digital, and everybody can race on 2 lanes.
Last week I helped my friend stay put. It's a lot easier than helping someone move. I just went over to his house and made sure that he did not start to
load sh** into a truck.

Fun racing can happen on any size track. If you get a good mix of friendly people that enjoy racing toy cars the track could be huge or tiny.

I agree with these guys
In truth, I have my buddy Locoracer Tom on most weekends and HRW Jim about every month. We only have more when we throw a slot party. Had a 2 lane for quite awhile here and that was all we needed to have some slot fun. It ain't just the racing, it's the folks doing it with you that matters. Thats what I am hoping a two lane track for free with some nice guys beats 75 bucks for 6 races against people that won't even talk to you at a 4 lane
professional track to me.

A month before I finished my wood track, and before we even had a club, I bought a Scalextric figure-8 to tide me over until I finished the wood track. One of my friends and I tore that track up for hours and hours and hours -- the racing action was a blast. No need to wait until you have four lanes!

Agreed. When you have good friends around who just wanna have some fun it can't get any better. Like El said, you guys start out having some fun, playing
around and in no time things will pick up. Before you know it you'll have a club up and running. That's how my brother (ovalracer63) and I started Pa
Scale Auto Racing. It was just him and I playing around after I moved back home to PA from Maryland. One day we just thought hey, let's try and turn this
into a club. Good luck and just have fun.

We have raced on 2 lanes for 4 years now. 3 lanes would be great but 2 have worked out just fine. We have had up to 10 racers show up. but usually 5 or 6. We
run a handicap system, several classes, and usually a bracket system after qualifying. We have a ball. Put your group togeather.

I just moved to the area here so I don't know anyone but their is a hobby shop that sells SCX less than three blocks away. I was thinking about putting a
flier up in there and seeing if I get any interest. I enjoyed MGPMRC back in St Louis for the short weeks I was there. For me racing isn't about finishing
first it is about having fun.

What a great thread!! Heck yeah, don't wait! Remember kids like to play too. Warning, video games have taught them accute hand eye coordination. (I'm
learning this the hard way)
I have become a 1/32 scale racer recently and decidedly wanted the home style racing. The HO group I belong to races slot cars for fun. The fact someone wins a race is just a bonus. I hope to carry this over with the people I hope to soon be racing with in my garage. Tim |

Keep in mind that more lanes doesn't let you run more guys through in less time, it just gives each racer more time on the track. If you have twelve
racers, and everybody is going to run on all the lanes, you have to run twelve heats whether you have a two lane or an eight lane track.
