WHAT A FIND!!! |
Lead | |
|
I picked this stuff up from a guy who had them advertised on Craigs List but he is local so he delivered them to me. I never find this stuff for a good price
and I got all of this for a song. First pic shows from left, front, a Revell set aluminum chassis, Monogram chassis with Revell motor and a Revell plastic
set chassis with drop arm guide. They all run very well. The bodies are a Ferrari 350 Can Am, Ferrari 330, Lola T70 and Mclaren M6, all lexan. Box in back
is in excellent shape but only contains extrea parts, not the kit. Bummer!! Second photo shows, from left, a cox Ford GT chassis, Cox iso-fulcrum chassis and
Aurora/K&B chassis. All run great. Bodies are a cox Ford GT, Revell 67 Camaro, Mercedes 300SL and 67Mustang, 2 Aurora 65 Mustangs and a Revell Cooper.
Third photo, front, are a 1/24 Revell Lotus 23 and Porsche RSK from a set with plastic chassis' (both were given to me along with a Sears/Allstate road
racing set, minus cars and power, with a bunch of what appears to be Eldon track). The 'Vette is a Revell 1/32 with radiused rear fender wells that work
great with the Cox wheels and Ortman vintage tires. It has the Revell adjustable aluminum chassis and runs really great. The boxes are a complete, never
built Revell 300SL M/B and a Lancer McLaren M6, complete with interior. I also got a box of about 60' of Revell track with a Revell controller, Aurora
power pack and MRC controller. All this for $75.00. Unbelieveable.

Thanks Dave.
I guess it wasn't on the list for very long. He
also put it on the RMSCC board and I was lucky enough to see it first and jumped on it. BTW, the Revell track is for sale but the other stuff stays here.

You lucky dog! You got some great stuff there. What car is the silver one in the bottom pic? Is it a Porsche RS61? Can never seem to get one no matter how hard
I try. Have fun with your new found treasures.
I guess I should have
read the post again, it's a 1/24 RSK....Never mind....

Thanks guys. Footscoot--it's either an RSK or RS61, I can't tell. Runs great though.

First, I have a guy who wants all the Riggens/Revell track he can get. If it could be that is what the track is, name a price, and send it to me as a PM.
I'll tell him the next day. Second, I got that same Mercedes 300SL in the same color in a trade a few years ago. Lets make some cars that make the whole
world go nuts. I have been saving it. Got any ideas?

BTW, the chassis' all had original tires on them and I changed all of them to Ortmans except the Monogram chassis. That'll be done soon. Actually,
the original tires were, for the most part, pretty soft but still not quite up to Ortman snuff.

Wow! That IS quite a find! If I turned up something like that, I'll bet that would get me back into vintage in a heartbeat!

The Porsche is an RS 61, according to Revell. I was lucky enough to get one from EJ's, on his repro brass chassis. I think I paid about the same as the
whole lot posted here. But then, in 1973 I bought a similar lot of cars and parts (including a Revell Hi-Bank set) for $10.

nice find for sure. | ||

lotus, you know the chassis in top far right goes under the blue camaro in the
next to bottom picture don't you? nice find for sure, jd |

Yes, jd, I do but it sits so high it looks like a 4wd Camaro. I'll probably build a chassis and make the Camaro a Donahue Trans Am car.

... I suppose... IMHO, there's a good deal then there's taking advantage of somebody. If the guy knew what he had and just needed quick a cash
that's one thing. If he was clueless as to the value than I would've told him he could do much better and sent him on his way or offered him more than
the paltry $75 he was asking. Sleep well...

I'm you, lotus. The fact is, the world isn't black and white, and the good deal is by no means directly the result of a bad deal on the other side.
I'm about to get rid of three trucks and three cars at far below what they are worth because I can't justify the effort (in my case, translate that to
danger), to restore them to run well enough to get what they are worth. I am tired of looking at them in my woods. They are going to be gone, if I have to tow
them off. Somebody is going to make money on those cars and trucks if they work on the cleanup and buy some tires and batteries. Its a good deal to me to have
them gone, its a good deal for whomever gets them. Human relationships are not mathematical. It is the range from logical to absurdity that makes life richer.
Besides, I'm very pleased that someone who will look after the cars is the one who got them.

Thanks Rob. The man was very nice about the whole thing, even after I told him what a couple of pieces were worth. His wife didn't want to the Ebay
thing, she just wanted them out of the garage after 35 years. I don't plan on selling them anytime soon, I just like having some of the stuff I had as a
kid.
