I'm impressed would have expected some good passes but it sounds like everyones cars are well thought out and the performance shows , quite honestly
I'd have bet a 1/32 car could not break the 100mph mark Well done congrats to all!

Heya guys it's was a fun event for sure. I'm working on my video today and I'll post it soon.
Hi Dan, I thought my last pass was 24 miles per hour? In any case thanks for everyone's work on this record event. It was lots of fun to meet so many new friends and finally get to meet people that I've been "talking" with for years online here at HRW. DaveK |

Now, this whole event was on plastic track, and the wood track could not be used? Was a record set?

The only reason that the wood track couldn't be used was that we had two different timing systems. One had a speed trap for the 'flying mile (165
feet, one scale mile in 1:32), the other had an eight-foot speed trap. The software limitations made it impossible to use the 8' trap, and that sensor
harness was set up on the wood track, with the flying mile speed trap on the plastic track. We weren't going to make the racers wait while doing major
surgery to install the flying mile harness into the wood track.
Instead, we shortened the flying mile to a flying half mile by moving the Scalextric sensor track to the midpoint. This gave the guys who built their cars to gain speed slowly a chance to gain speed, but it still left the timing area long enough for the timing system to keep up.

Tom's car did a 117, 119, 115 (Brian driving to allow his dad Tom to see the car on the big end. Seeing might be an inappropriate word -- seeing a blur
would be better.

I raced an FXX powered by the RX4H. My first run was 21 mph, I had a deslot on the second run (no time recorded), and my third run was recorded as 22 mph but
Tommy and I remembered it being a 24 mph run. Between runs I switched from wheels/tires and whole rear end (to a 24 tooth gear). I wanted to use SCX power
rather than just dive in with the NSR motor. Even though I finished near the bottom I had a great time.
Some photos from the race. One of the cars comes to an abrupt stop as it gets caught in the wiring trackside.
Bruce from Cincy Slots watches the action from high atop his perch trackside.
Rod works on his car(s) between runs on the track.

Dave,
I could have announced it wrong. Pat recorded then I checked and he rechecked. What was your gearing? You needed a 15 tooth pinion as you were maxed out way before the finish.

That's ok Dan, I'm not that concerned with my speed really.

I love that shot of Rod after the fast run. Man, he was having a ball, and the enthusiasm really made it a good time. That's Bruce's Cartrix Lotus buried in the track wiring. Great shot! Hey Bruce, are those the wheels and tires off the Monogram Tuner cars?

We have not mentioned Shawn Smith's truck much, BUT it turned 50 MPH run. I am building a truck to run against him next year. We could have a truck class.
Shawn has the fastest known truck in the world!

Very true, Dan.
I thought that each entrant was interesting -- there wasn't any 'field filler', and we were all rooting for each car as it got on the track. The truck was different, and I'm surprised that Shawn was the only one using a truck with that tall final drive.

All this good talk about the LSR has started me thinking... Since the 20 volt run was just for fun, and produced such stupendous results, are we thinking that
the 20 volt might become a permanent part of the event? If so, can we participate in that category alone? I'm thinking about a wide open category, no holds
barred, high-amperage 20 volt assault on physics. I can see an argument for not being able to do the 20 volt unless you do the 12, too, though. That way anyone
who doesn't have time for building two cars could still run in the 20 volt with their 12 volt car. What do you think?
There ain't no learnin' in the second kick of a mule...
