I really like the mild motor in here. Runs like a perfect classic to me. I know some of you did not like the motor choice, but for my tastes it is ideal.
Thank you Rich!!!

Wow...this arrived in the mail today from Rich McMahon as a gift. This is my first up close with one of these cars.

That's one of my favorite cars, Harry! And it can scoot a lot quicker than people think.
I want to get a vending machine, with fun sized candy bars, and the glass in front is a magnifying glass.
You'll be mad, but it will be too late.

All this talk about the R-M version (Revell-Monogram, not Rich-McMahon), and I just had to bust out the blue one. I've been wondering if I had some kind
of fluke with the yellow one, because my blue one didn't run very well. I looked at the 8-tooth plastic pinion, and it really wasn't so good.
That's when I ordered a brass 8-tooth gear from Ranch Design, and I finally got around to disassembling the little beast last night to get the new pinion
in there.
And wow, it's as good as the first, if not better. I couldn't be any happier with a slot car!

Well, in the bad news department, the car ran AWESOME tonight -- right up until the point where the crown gear became toothless. I think this was a process
already underway from the plastic pinion gear, and not helped by adding a metal pinion. I don't know for a fact that the pinion is the culprit, because I
replaced the pinion when the gear had already seemed to strip.
So -- anybody know where I can get a replacement gear?

I believe the RD pinions are 64 pitch, and, your crown gear probably WAS .5m, which is closer to 48 pitch.
If you use their pinions, you will probably need their crowns as well.

Is that windshield sort of flat and collapsed into the cockpit? Everything else about the car looks great . . . except the concave rear tires.
The RD pinions are very fine, and mesh well with TSRF 64 diametral pitch spur gears. I suggest you buy RD 1/43 pinions and crowns in sets. The crowns may require a smaller axle than 3/32, so you may need to re-bore the crown. |

The problem seems to be that there are no crown gears available that match the pinions. See, there is a tight shroud around the crown gear, so you can't really change the crown gear to a standard crown gear like a Slot.It or a SCX. The crown has very small teeth, and has a bore of 3/32", so it's pretty specialized -- I haven't seen a gear like it in the 1/32 world. The RD pinions with the 1.5mm bore will work well if they're mated to the right gear, but the only gears they have that fit the 3/32" axle are the
SCX gears.

I ran a Sloter Lola on the 6-lane wood quad-oval last night (17-18 foot straights). It was too quick for many cars to keep up, including the new Scalextric
Camaro. The handling is so good that its exit speeds are high, and when you get out of the corner quickly, you don't have to rely on that little
hamster-driven motor to accelerate much. You really need to drive it to keep from scrubbing off speed, but it'll bail you out of trouble when you overcook
it. This car even gave the Ninco Acura the 'chrome horn' in corners when the Acura was too slow to stay in front of the Lola. Really amazing
performance from this little car...

Quick update on the gear situation:
I sent Sloter an e-mail last week through their website about the gears and how to go about replacing them. I received a nice e-mail from them this morning. The English is pretty broken, but it sure beats my Spanish, and it appears that they'll be sending replacement gears at no cost. Very nice!

I should have written them about the the Ferrari's and Lola's I didn't like from them. Nice to hear that they are responsive, and making good on
the situation. Always a good thing to find people who care about the customer.

They do, but you have to assemble him. He really needs a good painting, too.
