Hey Lib, does Ranch Design sell the 3/32" brass axle bushings separately from the chassis kits?
Does anyone know where to find readily find them? Joe. |

Barfly,
I use a small brass piece that comes with R/C servos for the shock mounting. They just happen to be a few .001's under size, so I came ream them exactly were I want them. Most good hobby shops have them in a baggy card. And if you install them from the inside of the chassis they also work for a gear shim as well. I wound show you a picture but the only car I have at home with this done to it is my sprint, and I don't want things seen inside the chassis.

Yep, the axle bushings are available upon request.
They also work great for repairing plastic chassis that have slopped out. |

If Ranch makes it, they'll make it special for ya if they don't have it in stock. I can attest to that.

Joe, you can use brass tubing. For 3/32 axels use 1/8" outer tubing. I use a jig to sand the ends of the tubing nice and square. The jig consists of a
1/8th inch piece of aluminum with a 1/8" hole drilled in it. I set it flat on a flat surface, pop my rough cut bushing in the hole and then run a sanding
block over the end of the new bushing until it no longer protrudes thru the hole. The flat piece of aluminum guides my sanding block when I get the bushing
close to flush to help make it nice and square on the ends. I should mention that I have a piece of plastic under the aluminum with a hole in it that
eventually gets removed when it comes time to sand the other end flush.
Simple if I had a pic but maybe difficult to verbalize. Another easy way to get good bushings is to order them from Ranch ;-)
