Alright I won a auction for a digi-pro set. Box was wasted but everything looks great inside. Love that artin packaging. Just got it 20 minutes ago. I've had 2 beers and started to read the instruction manual, now it's time to put the set up. I also have an extra pit stop coming from another auction. I have been looking at all of the posts ever since christmas, and I was really worried about getting a set. It seems though that some of you guys have found a solution for almost every problem that pops up. I have been racing for about 3 years on two figure 8 four lane artin sets and i'm hoping that I can eventually incorporate the digital into a big honking set. My need is what is the best advise for newbies to digital? What do I need to look for, what are the best tips to get up and running without pulling my hair out (what's left of it)? I will be posting again in a few hours after I get it set up and find out what I can't do. This whole digital leap is of course to have fun, but to also get my 11 year old away from the xbox 360. Thanks guys, help!

Well not to bad. The set works pretty well. Only one problem. One car arrived DOA. The other 5 cars work pretty well. Took some time to get it going, but
it seems pretty cool. I am having a hard time figuring out how to race 2 players against a few ghost cars, but I will figure it out. The cars perform a
little different than the regular sets. I wish I would have got in on the Walmart .com price. I paid 174.00
including shipping, but I still think it's way worth it with all the stuff you get. Still will appreciate any advise that some of you experts can give.
A few of my cars pit when they shouldn't. Gonna clean the rails real well with lighter fluid tomorrow. I'm pretty excited though, back to racing!

Don't know if you can get a factory replacement for the bum car if you bought the set on Ebay. You can watch or post on the For Sale / Vendors page for
possible replacement parts. Good luck! Mike A

Controller extensions are a good first upgrade.
Be very careful about holding the gas when you put the cars back on the track, I've lost a couple rear motor brackets and pinion gears that way already. Make sure the chip is screwed into the chassis tight, I had a loose board and it broke a wire wiggling. The cars crash into each other pretty hard sometimes, I think a little weatherstripping(on the front bumper) will help but I haven't actually tried yet. |

When all else fails, take out the digi stuff and make'm analog. I have two sets here and have hardly used them. From what I have read in these threads, the
electronics in these Digipro sets aren't very sturdy, to say it politely. Thankfully, most of us bought them so cheap that tossing the digiparts isn't
much of a loss. If and when Artin brings this Digipro back, it's gonna have to be a lot more reliable to make them worth any profitable price, IMHO. The
cool thing about it is that you get a bunch of track and 6 cars. If you want to revert to analog, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to make the switch.

Hey, I thought that I have read a few posts where guys had 2 pit stops set up. Is that the case or is only one pit stop allowed. I am also having a problem
with cars pitting whenever they want to, any suggestions? Also any help on how to get my 1 car that arrived totally DOA working? Lights don't light up or
anything.

The sticky in this forum explains how to replace the reed switch, that's what is failing on the cars that pit randomly. It's a cheap fix if your handy
with solder(or know somebody who is)
I have 3 pit stops and 3 lane changes on a 45 foot tri-oval and everything works great |

Man I am so glad, I thought I read somewhere on this site that you could only use one pit. Before I read that I had already won a extra pit stop. Have not
received it yet. Last night was great I got my 11 year old son and 10 year old daughter into a race with me, and we had 2 ghost cars going as well. Sometimes
the ghost cars don't pit and then sometimes it seems like they pit too much. One aggravating thing is when your in the middle of a race and your car pits
without a need to. Does anybody have an extra lane change piece they would be willing to sell or trade for stuff? I have lots of cars and track. I need to
learn more about the reed switch change out to seems like that is taking care of some of the problems. Any special advise on using 2 pit stops? Can they be
right after each other or do they need to be far apart? thanks again for the help guys.

You can place pits next to each other, but keep them 4 or 5 pieces away from the lane changer to avoid accidental pit stops.
I saw somewhere that SlotCarWorld had lanechangers in stock, but I could never find them on their site... |

I have 6 young boys 9-14 using our set and I haven't had any reliability problems (total failures).
I did have a car or two that the spider of wires that goes over the motor was shorting out. I just moved the wires to where they wouldn't touch and all has been fine. If needed wrap the wires with a bit of tape to insulate them. These guys play hard with little regard for the cars. It's a great sight to see that many kids laughing and hooting running slots. It's been the best money I've ever spent on this hobby. I think Artin hit a homerun with this set. The fact that Wal-Mart sold it a the right price point didn't hurt either. I don't know if we'll ever see these sets at that price($100) again but I think it's crucial for them to move off the shelves. Enjoy your track. I hope you get as much from it as I've been able to. |

I agree coznick. It's so much fun to watch the kids go crazy. I just got my set on Tuesday and I'm still learning how to do all the programming so
I'm a little anal about letting them go crazy on it yet. The best thing about last night was when I told them they had to get off of it and go to bed. I
received a bunch of dddaaaaddd's. I have been real careful about turning it off for a little while after an hour. Anybody else doing the same or does it
not matter on time once you change the reed switches? I just ordered 10 reed switches from that site. I still am not confident enough to cut something out of
my cars and try to replace it yet. Hopefully by the time I receive them in the mail, there will be some pics up on the change out. I love this site, I really
appreciate all the good advise!
