Its true a NASCAR cup or Nationwise(Bush) car has for many years never been a stock car. Not sure if they are still using Ford rear ends today or someother brand. But since the late eighties the only difference has been the motor and the body. All the other hardware is basically from the same suppliers. What makes one team better than the other? It has to be in the motor shop and suspension setup. I can remember years ago 70's Richard Petty saying the advantage he had over the Fords and Chevies was that they had coil springs while his Plymouths and Dodges had torsion bars which caused them to handle bumps the same way while a coil springs might bounce different each time. Dont know how true that is. While the COT body was designed by NASCAR you still have Ford, Chevy, Toyota and Dodge motors. Why do we no longer see and Buick, Pontiacs, Olds, or Mercury. Manufactures Points. When we did have the other GM brands in the 80's they all used the chevy block but had to have heads from that particular division IE pontiac. Then as GM went to platforms all divisions had the same motors 90's. But in order for GM to win the Manufactures championship it would be easier if all GM cars came from one division (Chevy)
