The Dungeon Raceway was packed with racers this week for the final street stock event at this location on this track as next month this track will be moved
to Brentwood NH. With the Dungeon Raceway, Lee America Racepark, and Judge Raceway all fielding multi-car teams, the independents certainly had their work cut
out for them. Just a few minutes before the scheduled start of the first round of heats, Cliff had not arrived yet causing some concern for the Nerfenbro
team. Fortunately, Cliff made it in time and was able to get right to racing without missing a beat. This series had it's first female competitor.
Dede, wife of Darren who has competed in the past with the HOST club, the Weds night racers, and in previous street stock events. It was obvious during warm
ups, Dede has done this before and was quickly recruited to drive one of the Dungeon cars. This race was to be run with no bonus points and the same point
awarding system used by HOST and WNR. Heat races were 75 laps with each racer running all four lanes three times. (900 laps). First round of heats had Rick
on top racing a Javelin with three heat wins with Dickie and Guytano each taking two wins right on his heels. All bunched up just a couple points back was
Turbo Kev, Norman, and Kevin with Cliff and Darrel only a few points behind them. Fast laps for the first round was not available at press time but it was
obvious the competition was close as most heats had all four lanes in the 3.2's.
Rick 17 (3 wins)
Dickie 16 (2 wins)
Guytano 15 (2 wins)
Turbo Kev 13 (1 win)
Kevin 12 (1 win)
Norman 12 (1 win)

Second round of heats Turbo Kev really cranking it up with his great looking purple/silver Firebird taking two heat wins and two seconds. Norman was tied with
Turbo Kev as he also picked it up with three impressive heat wins but also had a last place finish. Guytano kept pace with two heat wins with both Dickie and
Kevin right on his heels each taking a heat in this round. Rick and Darrel sat just a point back of them keeping their hopes alive for the overall win. Turbo
Kev had a heat in this round where he had a two lap lead only to be too close to a lap car de-slotting on the last lap costing him a win. Too soon to tell yet
but these races tend to come back to haunt someone. Fast lap in this round went to Norman with a 3.058 in the yellow lane. Norman was able to turn 3.0's
in three lanes with Turbo Kev the only other to be break into the 3.0's.
Norman 16 (3 wins)
Turbo Kev 16 (2 wins)
Guytano 15 (2 wins)
Kevin 12 (1 win)
Dickie 12 (1 win)
Rick 11 (1 win)

With Dickie and Rick falling back in the second round and Kevin not able to gain any ground on the point leaders, it was going to be a night where it could go
right down to the last heat race to determine the winner. With the entire field now turning very fast laps, wins and points were getting much harder to get.
Tension in the pits could be felt as Turbo Kev and Guytano along with Norman were all anxous to get this last round started as all were in very good position
to win but as we all know, a break here or there, of any bad break, could be the difference maker. Guytano gave it all he had taking three heat wins and a
second really putting the pressure on for errorless racing by all those chasing him. Rick, Norman, and Turbo Kev all took two wins with Dickie taking just one
heat in this round knocking the hard charger out of the running for the win. Darrel had three seconds in this round leading several heats as he was turning
laps as fast as the point leaders all night long. Fast lap in this round went to Turbo Kev with a 3.097 in yellow. Nearly the entire field made it into the
3.1's with several doing it in all four lanes.
Guytano 18 (3 wins)
Turbo kev 15 (2 wins)
Norman 15 (2 wins)
Rick 15 (2 wins)
Dickie 13 (1 win)
Darrel 10
Kevin 8

After the scores were tallied, it was Guytano taking the overall win and the very prestigous "traveling" trophy home to Brentwood. With Guytano
being the furure owner of this track, it was only fitting he take the last street stock race at this location. Guytano was focused all night long staying out
of trouble (and away from Dickie) becoming yet another first time winner in the street stock series.
Guytano 48
Turbo Kev 44
Norman 43 (6 wins, 4 seconds)
Rick 43 (6 wins, 3 seconds)
Dickie 41
Kevin 32
Darrel 29
Cliff 22
Darren 16
Dede 12
A great time was had by all in attendence. The handling and the speed of these inexpensive cars has made some very close racing in all the events of far.
Track management provided some tasty meatball subs along with plenty of other things to munch on including some very tasty cheese. Special thanks to Kevin for
bringing a nice cake with lettering commemorating the fifth street stock race of the series. The only thing was this was the "sixth race". After
talking to Kevin we are still not sure whether this cake was for last months race or he mis counted what race this was. I'm not sure we will ever know the
answer to that. Sorry to report Kevin again touched things he doesn't know anything about as he somehow knocked out the track mate program putting
"no signal" on the computer screen. Thankfully, Dickie was able to retrieve the program not loosing the heats that were already run in that round.
Next month's street stock event will be run at Lee America Race park with a tentative date of April 19th. Keep an eye on the message board for
confirmation.
