Has anyone given one of these a good shakedown? I'd like to know how they run and if they are on par with the Porsche 935's. Birthdays coming

I like the one that I have.IT Runs! and Handels well! on the stock tires too.
(Didn't like the back wing took mine off) comes right off and right back on I regret didn't get much sliding time, car handles to well now that I think of it, waxed the roof for nothing.

Ran mine in an IROC-style race on Artin track with a Carrera Moby Dick, and two Carrera Ferrari 512's. They were all stock with shims, and tires trued.
They were all fun to drive but all of the drivers commented on what a blast the Opel was; smooth, held the track well, and was faster than the others. This was
my first Carrera with the new uber-guide. Works great on my Artin track. Can't wait to get more Opel Commodores.

Thanks guys. That's what I was hoping for. I too am attracted to the wild aero packages of this time. I love the 935 that I have and have been eying the
512's since they were anounced. It will make for a quite interesting grid. Thanks for the insight!

My buddy has both of them.
Frankly, I'm not impressed. They run OK, I guess. There really isn't another car to run against them. You pretty much have to get both of them. The closest car I can compare them to is the Carrera BMW Z4's. They run a lot better than the Opel's and look better - IMHO. They do share the same chassis and drivetrains too. The Moby Dick or the 512 probably run alright, but they really aren't in the same class. They are much more low slung and don't have all that overhang. |
