Was sorting out my slot car stuff and noticed that if I used that with this and added that and topped it with this there was a whole slot car waiting to be
built.
Project: Leftovers begins with a Fly Panoz chassis discardered in favor of an HRS chassis for that body that is entered in the RAA series. The body is an A2M resin that was mistakenly listed as a PT Cruiser, but it was late in the evening and my bleary eyes didn't notice that it pictured the "show car" version...until it arrived. Also laying around was a ScaleAuto motor from the previous Forums Cup and some R-M Greenwood's.
The Fly chassis had to be stretched about 1/4" (those Artin track things for 4-laners work great to join the halves) and the width trimmed some along with getting rid of all the driveshaft holder to fit the SA motor. A new front axle mount was made w/brass tubing and JB Weld'd it in place. The rear R-M wheels also had to be trimmed so the assembly could fit within the chassis's uprights. Add a little weight up front to set the guide and hot glue the body on and it was ready to roll.
True to their nature, the R-M wheels though quite pretty aren't perfect so the car ain't as smooth as it could be (Artin FatBoys will probably be the likely replacements), but it does run pretty good for a little more than an hour's work.
Next will to be Fusion it in Pepper Red and add some decals - contemplating Dremeling the grille area open and filling it with mesh along with the front and rear windows.
Stay tuned...
