Went to Tri-State Speedway last night. TSS is a 1/2 mile high bank dirt track. Saw some really great action. It was WONDERFUL to hear, feel, and smell the
experience of dirt racing again! (Been over 10 years since we attended dirt races.) Got LOTS of inspiration for some 1/32 dirt cars! Quick observations:
* Still LOTS of mid-70s Camero's bashing about.
* LOTS of mid 80s "Regal" type (Boss Bodies) cars, but I suspect they were Chevy's of some sort.
* Even saw a late 60s Camero!
* BUT... cooler than that, there was a '64 Chevelle that looked super!
Lots of "IMCA" looking modifieds. Sounds from these were AWESOME.
The "FWD" (Front Wheel Drive) class that has been created since my last foray into dirt leaves me a bit cool... but I guess it's cheap racing for those that need it.
Now, what this has done is given me the HOTS to put together a Boss Bodies order and get started on my own fleet of fun little dirt oval cars! Plan on hitting the road on my hog this afternoon... but sometime tonight I intend to put me an order together.
Need some inspiration for your oval slot projects? GO TO THE RACES!!
