We have only 3 Hobby Shops in Richmond, Va. and the oldest closed it's doors 2 weeks ago. They had been in business for 30+ years. Of the 3 shops in town, only 1 carried 1/32 cars. I agreed to work the store to keep it open until a solution could be found. Well the solution was found, as of yesterday, I am now the owner.
This store was heavy into RC cars/planes/boats. When I took an inventory of the store, I found 1 SCX Digital car in stock. (wonder what caused them to put that in stock, probably a special order that never got picked up)
I plan a number of changes and one of them is to build a 1/32nd scale track. I already put half the inventory of 1/32 cars from my business (Miniature Racing Center) in the store. Now I need to spread the word that Hobby Corner has 1/32nd cars. I now have 45 -- 1/32 cars in stock at Hobby Corner plus 6 of my custom painted cars.
I can make room for a track that is 4 or 5 feet wide and approx 16 feet long. I want a plastic track, not hand routed like I have in my shop. I think I should showcase a track that can be purchased in the store.
What are your suggestions for a track and please give a short explanation of your reason.
1) Artin
2) Carerra
3) Ninco
4) Scalextric
Do you have any details of stores that run 1/32 races? What format do they use? When do they race, evenings, Saturday?
Do they have entry fees?
I am doing what I can to support our hobby, I am still a racer/builder at heart. If you have ideas that can help make it a successful store with 1/32 in stock, let me know.
Thanks for your time
Jim
