Speed Racers - the conversion |
Lead | |
|
Here's what I did with the Mach 6 and GRX racers. They both have GM motors and Artin 1/32 flag guides. Mach 6 is an easy conversion but the GRX is a pain.
So much grinding and trimming so the wheels fits inside the fender. The result though is worth the conversion because the car runs very well. Anyway, enjoy the
pictures.

Outstanding job, Martin. A few inquiries, if I may. Are you using 1:32 track? Your red earth is eye-catching. Nice job, Dude.

while I do not think it would actually "gum up the works" I would be willing to bet that the paint would offer friction against the pin/guide that
would slow the car considerably. It would probably wear off pretty quick, at least long the outside of curves, and I would imagine it would cause trouble by
truly gumming up the works then.

Thanks guys for the kind words.
Stranger - Yes I am using a 1/32 tracks. I use exacto knife to cut the styrofoam, has to be very sharp though. As for the paint, I use water base paint that I bought at dollar store and they have plenty of supply there. The paint that I use for the track is gray tremclad. Peter - The chassis is from my supply. I could not remember what conversion I used them for but they fit almost perfectly on those two cars. |

Those look top notch Martin.! As far as painting the slots - I painted the slots on my rally track (about 3 or 4 spray paint coats worth) and have had no
problems running my cars on it for the last year.
