And I still have to put the mirrors back on.
I like this set-up and I'm going to convert more Mini's to the SCX Nascar chassis - but I don't have many Nascar chassis' left - anybody want to trade Tuner chassis ( I have 20) for Nascar chassis??

Go!!! Cooper on SCX Nascar Chassis |
Lead | |
|
Work in progress - chassis was shortened of course and I put some K&D tires on the rear. I used 2mm styrene to join the two halves together. The short nose
of the Cooper made it a tight fit with the guide up front - but she is a runner - very smooth - some of the best handling I've gotten out of a guided car.
I like the smaller wheels as well - I think they suit the car better, compared to the Artin wheels on the Super Slicks Mini. Up next is clear windows and an
interior - depending on final motor choice. I might tuck the wheels in but I kinda like the skateboard look - I'll definitely take the slack out of the
front axle.
And I still have to put the mirrors back on.

It must be Mini Cooper week! I've been working on a Mini super slicks conversion as well. Artin chassis and yes, it sits a little too high so I've been
grinding rubber like a mad-man ;-))
Never would of thought of trying a SCX NASCAR chassis! Did think about a tuner chassis but the wheel stance is sooo wide. Nice one Josh! I'm adding decals to mine as well, SCCA club racer. Yep, the minis are fun! Now you have me contemplating a wheel change ;-) ! ![]() |

Never heard it refered to as the skate board look, but never the less I like the wide tire stance and would leave it as is. Looks great!

great work, Josh!
I like the way you shortened the chassis, not a straight cut so got place to glue the chassis - good idea! now 1/43rd gets the 1/24 look- the guide looking out in front of the car. Peter |

Thanks guys - I decided not to do an interior - and I tucked the wheels in. When I print out more decals they'll go on - here's the 99% final product:
And a second one to run with - I used a tuner chassis on this one - it was a bit more work to get this one to fit - couldn't get the wheels to tuck all the way either:

Nice work on the mini's Josh and GREAT chassis work. I changed my wheels over to the NASCAR wheels tonight, as a "no mag" runner with an open
frame HO motor...well it looks great but no traction! Looks like a set of K&D's are in order!
I used the SCX rear axle in the Artin chassis too and it's too sloppy and LOUD ;-) This will need to be remedied as well. I need more minis for sure though! ;-)) ![]() |
