to your whole track.

I'm not sure what the chemicals are that are being used now, but in the old days, tack cloths were soaked in linseed oil. It didn't matter for wall or
furniture painting, as all the paints and varnishes back then were alkyd oil based anyway.

But I'm assuming that the process left a nonconductive oil residue on your track.

I tried everything to clean the tape. I finally found that Tarn-X did the job.

I have not had a problem since I stopped using the Swiffer for picking up the dust. I can't blame the Swiffer but I have not had a problem since.

Vacuum cleaner, first. Then isopropyl alcohol (91% or a little higher) on a microfiber cleaning cloth, for the plastic. Periodically clean the rails with Caig
Deoxit or ProGold. If you need more cleaning of the rails, use Flitz metal polish (non-abrasive). Those chemicals will remove oxidation, prevent further
oxidation, and promote current flow, without abrading the rails.

Another trick is to keep the plastic from acquiring a static charge, which will reduce dust attraction....

Our club only has one plastic track and it is also cleaned with WD-40 sprayed on a rag. The track seems to stay clean for several days after it has been
treated this way. I know that there is oil in WD-40 so it would seem strange to put it on your track. I believe that the oil picks up the dust and the solvent
in the formulation removes the oil.
