Well... first the disclaimer: I was in my late elementary school years when I watched the racing at Riverside Stadium (since typing the above I have relearned that it was called Riverside Stadium) and early teens when at Lakeside.

I say that because I didn't do the driving to/from the racetracks. Now, having said that, here's what I can remember:

I'm late to the party on these as I thought doing a chassis would be difficult.

After mothballing the 1/24th diecasts for a number of reasons, I still wanted some sprint cars that scale and since I had all the "parts" I ordered the kit.
