Here are the latest shots of my track. I had to tweak my design a bit and play with some of the elevations due to line of sight issues after I got it up in the
air. It looked fine when it was on the floor.

I have 1 more small piece to fit in and rout, then should just about be ready to start slapping on some paint. I am going with interior/exterior acrylic latex
applied with the small foam roller per Hot Shoe's advice. Any thoughts or comments on grip with this type of finish would be...

OLSO,

Look closely at picture number 3 in my set. You will see that the H shaped supports are screwed into another 2x4 which is glued to the bottom of the
track. The glued on pieces are of variable lengths depending on where they are, and add support to the MDF. This way there are no screw holes to fill on the
track surface and the supports can be easily removed. This whole track was designed from the start to be easily disassembled. It takes a few extra steps, but
it can...

OLSO,
The track supports have worked out very well for me. They are made out of cheap material to start with, 2x4's, and if you make them the wrong
size/height you can glue a piece back on to them. Or you can just unscrew the whole thing and start over. I think that is a little better than mucking up an
expensive piece of plywood and all you need is something that will cut a short straight line. There are also no angles to figure out. Good luck with your
project....

The drivers stations and start/finish line will be situated on the short straight at the end of the track as is shown in the first picture in the series. This way you are looking lengthwise at the entire track as you are racing which will eliminate any back and forth head thrashing as you follow the car. I plan on building a new one this spring when the weather breaks. The next track will be the full length of the shop, about 24x8. Not sure if we we are gonna build another oval or a road course, I really like the oval, the racing is really close, last fri. we raced and the cars were about 2 feet apart at the end of the race.
Thanks.
I kind of borrowed the support idea from the folks from Dillon Speedway. It is a variation on their's. If you look hard enough on this forum, you will find them. I had thought over several ways of supporting my track and when I saw how they did it, that just clicked with me. The original Carerra track planner I used to lay this out listed the track length around 86'. Not sure what it is now after my "tweaking". I will measure it at some point in time however.

...
