The one that surprised me was the Racer Fiat Abarth (new body style) I bought. The only thing I did to it was put a different set wheels on it. It came with Slot It. wheels and tires, I just replaced those with Slot It. Sauber Mercedes wheels, and S-1 rears. This car does not make any kind of sound when running, and is smooth as glass, just a pleasure to drive. It was ran non-mag on the King at Bullitt...

Another one is the Spirit BMW 1600...I only sanded the tires, adjusted the braids and tuned the front suspension. Runs wonderfully, and a hoot with my Datsun 510s on the track!

PinK Kar Ferrari GTO -- Ninco Rubber and a new guide -- she is as fast as a Ninco classic Cobra. It amazes me what little change is necessary to make a POS car into a competitor.

I agree that the MRRC cobra and the March 83G cars are great to drive. The cobras are very quick but a little skittish while the March's are quick and stick like glue. I found with the 2 cobras and 2 marches it was just a matter of true the tires, oil the usual spots and off you go. The Red Lobster car I have will beat the slot it Jaguar of a friend on his home track. Pisses him off every time. I paid $20 for the car new on ebay. That's a 1/3 of what he paid for the slot it car.

Sloter Lola T-70 Spyder -- one of the best handling slot cars made today, and it beats many other cars that it shouldn't be able to with its 1:43 motor.

Hey Zoom- try snapping in a Tomy Turbo motor in the go-karts and PPR tires. We set up 4 of them just alike and did an IROC race. It was so much fun we decided to do it again.

Scalextric Lister Storm LMP. Vastly under-appreciated, issued twice, and rarely seen. But fast! One of only two motor-pod chassis designs from Scalextric (the other is the Maserati MC12).

I just worked on one of the first Auto Art rally cars made. She was a shelf dog -- the girl nobody will dance with because she steps on your feet. I took all the electrical crap out. Put some clay in the bottom and gave the girl some dance lessons with a new prom dress -- she got a newer Auto Art guide that is MUCH deeper. She ain't the prom queen but she does dance! I had a series of the little Fly Venturis that came with some large lot buys on Ebay long ago, and just for fun, I modified one the same way we used to modify the Fly Porsche 908. Those little Venturis are a blast! Try one with an NC-1 sometime. And of course, Slot.it gears make it almost too good for my track. Before these things came with a bunch of cars I got in one lump, I never heard of Venturis, much less slot car Venturis. Every now and then, I take one out and shred around the track.

Couldn't agree more with this statement. The Fly Corvette C5R is my favorite slot car and I love the Lister Storm too.

Nobody ever talks about the Fly Saleen. I think it could be the best looking of any slot cars - and looks are 2/3 of the appeal for me.

I still have some Virgin Proslot predecessors to the ScaleAuto. What I want is a dealer to import the chassis -- I can try hacking in a different way. BTW, the Avant Peugeot has a lighter body.

My most underrated car would be the NINCO Porsche 997. I have three of these cars and they flat out get it done. My 997 cars are basically stock with Laprene tires on all fours and a ProRace suspension guide. I really like that the cars have a shorter wheels base than some of the other Ninco angle winders which really helps on the tight curves. The cars also have a narrow width which helps to get really good side bite around the curves.

The Monogram Shelby GT350R. Someone finally made a scale model of these classic Shelbys. Great looking model and I have a batch that I run togther. They have a lot of speed but are a bit of a challenge to drive well because of their skinny tires but not too challenging ofr novices. All of mine are totally stock and everyone that runs them on my track really enjoys them. Too bad they didn't make more in a variety of colors.

My most underrated car would be the Scale Auto Toyota GT 1. For me it's absolutely vice free with out a magnet. With very little tweaking (mostly setting the guide for the track) it easily runs with my NSR's. For those who were lucky enough to get one anyway(except Dan, who hacked his up ) congratulations.

A car that keeps being requested by friends and sees many laps is my Proteus Lambo, it's fast and handles great without any mods, but most of all it's just plain fun to slide it around the track.
It's odd that with all the cars I have this is the model most keep grabbin' off the shelf.
